Stumbled across this old (2012) Shooting Illustrated article by Steve Adelmann.

Found the results quite interesting and thought I would share.  Although, I'm sure it may have been on here before (didn't bother to look)

Anyway, here's a link:  Green Tip Accuracy Test

I like the PMC X-Tac a lot and therefore I have a lot of it on hand.

That's back up what I've found...US made M855 is the worst in accuracy compared to foreign variants

Federal M855 and XM193 is all I shoot.  M855 is accurate enough for me and plentiful at the current time.  Thanks for the link though OP.

Very similar to my findings as well.

PMC M855 is generally the best out of my rifles, never tried the PPU M855, have lots of PPU in M193 spec stuff, but I think I'll grab some and give it a try.

I have lots of AE XM855 stacked deep and have often thought about using it up and rotating it out in favor of PMC.

IMI is the most accurate M855 variant.

This is what Molon's testing showed, it also showed that IMI M855 is more accurate than any of the M193 variants that he tested.

I think that his testing showed IMI M193 to be the most accurate of all of the M193 loads he tested as well.

I would take that test with a grain of salt. 1.1 MOA with ANY M855 is a pipe dream.

I have shot lots of XM855, including the PPC LAP and the S&B in the same green boxes shown in that article. Both the PPC and the S&B were above average in accuracy compared to the Fed, IMI and Win. But I would have started dancing at the range if any gave me 1.1" average at 100 yards. More like 2-2.5"

Sounds like the same story as with M80 ball on the .308 side. US can be all over the place (but at least will reliably cycle, unlike Turk shit), sometimes good, sometimes crappy. MEN OTOH actually gets respectable accuracy considering the kind of ammo it is, generally around 1.5 MOA consistently. Good stuff.

I too am a fan of PMC's 855...I purchased several of their battle packs for long-term storage.

My testing has showed best accuracy from RUAG HP (hard to find), IMI, Nammo CG, and ADI in M855

In M193 Ive had the best results from IMI, Geco, and MEN

There is a theme here, none of it is made in the USA, sad to say. I think the USA ball ammo is like the WALMART of world ammo supplies. Predictably reliable, hot, but inaccurate.

Now USA match loads are up there with anyone's but the standard USA ball ammo kind of sucks

I've found European ss109 to be better than US M855

Rob is right, the IMI 855 was the best of the bunch, LC decent and consistent.
I'm happy with either and don't expect to better 2 MOA under any conditions.

There's another discussion on a similar subject floating around.  MOST SS109-type ammunition is more accurate than M855.  Possibly it's because other nations use some different processes in building the bullets, which are pretty complex for bullets.  I think US M855 may also be less accurate by design.  M855 was originally intended for the M249 Squad Automatic Weapon, a belt-fed machine gun.  Ordnance Corps thinking with belt-fed seems to be "dispersion is good."  The accuracy specs for belted M80 are substantially poorer than for boxed or clipped M80.  Coincidence?  I think not.
