Has anyone shot his stuff for accuracy yet? Is it 2moa ammo or like XM855 at 3 or even 4moa? So far the most accurate SS109/M855 I have found is ZQI. View Quote If it comes in this week I'll be ahooting it out of a 14.5 stainless noveske barrel known for 1/2 moa with Blackhills 75gr. I'll do a couple of test groups with the black Hills and be doing some a/b comparing with some fed m855 and xm193. I'm hoping for at least 2 moa. Most of my shooting is fast, punching paper and ringing steel. If itll give me 2 moa ill buy more. We shall see. |

I never got any free shipping from them and I order there pretty consistently. Maybe a code or something?

What sort of packaging for shipping? I had mine shipped to work and not sure I want a big box with "AMMUNITION DEPOT" or something all over the side sitting in the mail room.

Mailmen sure. Doesn't mean my coworkers do or need to know. View Quote Fedex dropped off me a box today. Packaged in cardboard box just right size for a .50 cal can to fit. Sealed with white tape with blue diagonal lines, markings on tape "if seal has broken check contents". The ORM-D label is pretty small at 1.5x2.25 inches, and says consumer commodity instead of cartridges small arms. Shipping label shows "AMDEP" as shipper. |

Ammo depot has another 1000 plus cases in stock. Looks like there was a LOT more of this stuff out there than some folks anticipated. Hope the people buying pallets worth don't get burned too bad.

I just bought 2000 rounds of IMI M855 from SGAmmo two weeks ago and I also had to buy 2000 rounds of this FN M855/SS109 ammo when I found out about it.
I hope it's at least as good as the IMI M855. I was going to buy a Colt AR15A4 when they finally became available again but I think that my gun fund for 2017 has officially run dry. |

I missed the opportunity but I'm enjoying watching ammo prices drop.

This thread made me go and order a case. It arrived 2 days after my order!!! I live in Fla, but that is fast shipping.
The ammo can is new and is even sealed with the wire and led seal thing like the crates of real M855. The individual rounds look very nice and clean. Shinny with much fewer dents then typical Fed XM855. I took it out today to try out. I fired 3 five-shot groups at 100 yards. Seated from sandbags. Rifle was a PSA upper, 16" light weight middy 1X7 CHF. It's a good shooter and can give me sub MOA with good ammo. Scope was an ACOG, TA44 (1.5X16). This is not a target scope but at 100 yards, I average 1.25MOA with GECO 55gr in this rifle and TA44. Conditions sucked with a cold (for FL) high wind gusts. Group 1: 3.6" Group 2: 2.8" Group 3: 5.4" (4 shots were in a decent 1.7" group with the 5th destroying the group) This wild shot was possibly due to the wind, moving me or the target... I fired a control group using Black Hills 77gr (.223 pressure) new manufactured load, which gave me a nice 1.15" group. So, for accuracy, the FNB SS109 load sucks, at least in this one rifle. It is typical for XM855 and clones...giving the occasional sub 3MOA groups with the possible flier opening things up to 5+ MOA. I await further reports from yall. I will not buy more, unless one of my other rifles gives me consistent 2-3MOA, life Wolf Gold, that gives me 1.5-2.5MOA. |

M855 is not match ammo and if you're expecting or looking for anything close to match, I would suggest something else.

I have found M855 clones and SS109 type ammo to be among the worst in accuracy, followed by some of the bonded SP rounds like Fed TBBC. I was just hoping to get closer to 2MOA rather than 3-5. Hopefully, there will other folks posting results to give us a better general idea. Maybe even some jell block results. And it will be perfect free-hand-standing practice ammo so I can blame all my bad shots on the ammo... |

I went out again today since the weather was beautiful, sunny, with just a little breeze.
5 shot groups at 100 yards from a seated bench with sandbags. Again, the same PSA upper, 16" 1x7 CHF LW topped with the same ACOG TA44 1.5X. FN Herstal FNB 62gr SS109 group 1 2.55" group 2. 3.50" Black Hills 77gr (.223 pressure) 1.25" GECO 55 FMJ (.223 pressure) 1.10" I decided to put more scope on the rifle and changed out the TA44 for a Kahles K16i (shot at 6X) FN Herstal SS109 group 1 3.00" group 2 2.30" group 3 4.20" control groups using the same rig with Kahles 6X Black Hills 77gr...1.15" IMI 77gr Razor Mk262....1.6" GECO..................1.2" The average for the above 5 groups using the FN Herstal SS109 is 3.11". I'm perfectly OK with this accuracy for a steel tip, SS109/M855 load. It also "feels" consistent with casings all landing in a small pile, no foul smell, no issues etc. |

So seems for this price range ~$0.29/round, that the Wolf Gold .223 is still a better buy based on these preliminary results of this FNH ammo?

View Quote If someone is looking for XM855/SS109 steel tip ammo, this is a good option. The highly touted IMI M855 that I bought a few years ago was no more accurate for me at least. My first choice would be the GECO 55gr FMJ (.223) if I could find it. |

You can compare 55g and the 62g SS109 at close range but the 55g runs out of steam quickly while the SS109 stays super sonic close the same range as 75/77g ammo.
I don't want a 3-4 or even 5 moa ammo for any kind of distance shooting either. I had high hopes for the FN ammo but it appears to be equal to XM855 which throws a lot of random fliers. ZQI SS109 has shot consistently between 2-2.5moa for me from 50m clear out to 600m. I have shot many sub 2inch 8-10 shot groups at 100m with it. Yes sometimes it doesn't shoot that well but it doesn't throw shots like Federal M855 that takes your group from 2.5moa to 4 or 5moa. |

If its the same as the FNB we had over here then you can't reload it because the flash holes are too small for a std decapping pin
