Bought 2 500 round tins awhile back at Walmart. $119/500. Got bored and broke one open. Shot 2 1/4 inch 5 shot group at 100 yards. VERY impressed. Shot 3 mags rapid fire on steel. Worked fine. Have I been wasting my time reloading .223?

Tula is OK cheap plinking ammo...available online around $0.21 per round right now.  Only comment is to bring a brass barrel rod along w/ you to punch out the occasional stuck case and clean your chamber very well with a chamber brush afterwards due to the increase in carbon buildup in the chamber when shooting steel case.

Me and one of my friends have been very impressed with the new silver bullet Tula, in fact I think he's obsessed with it lol. The only 55gr I buy these days are Wolf Gold and Tula. So far I've only used it on steel, haven't shot for groups yet but its definitely not like the older underpowered crap Tula with copper colored bullet.

Reloading 55gr plinking .223 ammo is a waste of time, but reloading match grade ammo for 30-40 cents a round is a different story.

If your happy with groups like that  then ya you don't need to reload, i'll bet the next time you got to shoot them you will be closer to 3 to 4 inches.

My First post here on AR15.com     I agree with these posts!  The russian steel stuff is dirty and less accurate....  but for shooting steel and soda cans at 100yrds or less I love the stuff!  Some people will say it burns out your barrel faster due to the bi-metal jacket...  it prob does.....   but for what I say in just the first 1000rds I can buy a new barrel.

It's incredibly dirty ammunition, but my rifle has no problem with it and shoots 100% reliably with the silver-bullet stuff. For the price, I'm not going to complain- I mostly just shoot railroad baseplates at 75-100 yards with an "A1.5" and iron sights.

Do you guys get more metal fouling with the silver bullet? I shoot thousands of rounds of tula in 9mm and it's my only complaint. As a matter or fact it shoots as good or better than most US branded bulk ammo.
