The AI advantage is less with longer bullets. OAL and case OAL is really the problem with mag fed guns and long bullets.

The velocity gain will most likely be negligible in .223.

While it certainly CAN be done, an AI chambering in a semi-auto is generally discouraged.
They will not be as reliable. If you are looking for more velocity than a 223, then I'd try one chambered for 243 Win. That would be a significant step up in velocity. If you insist on a 22 cal. AR platform with better velocity, then try a 22-243. |
