I did search.  Didn't find anything.

Any issues, and if so, what are they, running 223 AI in the AR platform?  Thinking of a 21" bull barrel, heavy 70-80 bullets in local PRS style matches.  Max distances of 650 yds, 10 round COF.

Thank you,

Alan

The AI advantage is less with longer bullets. OAL and case OAL is really the problem with mag fed guns and long bullets.

The velocity gain will most likely be negligible in .223.

"Rule of thumb of is a 6% minimum gain before making a change to any particular Ackley" - An article from Precision Shooting mag on AI.

While it certainly CAN be done, an AI chambering in a semi-auto is generally discouraged.
They will not be as reliable.

If you are looking for more velocity than a 223, then I'd try one chambered for 243 Win.
That would be a significant step up in velocity.
If you insist on a 22 cal. AR platform with better velocity, then try a 22-243.

You're not getting a .243 or a .22-243 Mid in an AR.

Any .308-based AR platform will do nicely.
On an existing .223/5.56 AR platform? Maybe not.....
