You are rather brain dead, aren't you?

An almost brand new S&W MP15-T.  I did my homework and believed that remanufactured ammo was, as they state, the same as new except for one time fired brass.  That gun right there is mine and it blew to shit last week.  It's going back to S&W for eval, but I am hearing a lot about reman'd ammo that I really wish I had heard before.

If you want the story, its right here:

New S&W AR Kaboom

But...  I do again want to emphasize that I still do not know that it was the ammo.  I have shot only TNT munitions ammo through multiple guns with great results, so I am extremely interested to hear what S&W says after they run my gun through their MET lab.

But...  I am also taking heed to what the folks on this board are saying.  I'll be keeping the linked post updated as I learn more.

Georgia arms used to be a good deal on reloaded ammo, haven't heard any stories of them destroying rifles, but I haven't really looked. Shot a lot of it when you could get it loose in a can for cheaper than factory. Looking at the website now, looks like you can get wolf gold cheaper than the bulk stuff from them.

I don't post a whole lot, a bit more lately it seems. I do lurk alot and have read constantly over the 15 years when i have time and have learned alot about many a thing here from you guys and gals but i digress.   ;)
Now if there is one thing i have learned on this board without a doubt, other than the benefits of "beans or no beans" in chili .

It's to never buy or shoot Freedom Munitions in my guns no matter the price.

I can't believe after the horror storys and PICTURES of $1000-$2000 dollar rifles AND OPTICS from nice home builds to the Arfcom approved top respected factory built brands that are now nothing but a bunch of splintered alloy and steel pieces that blew up inches from the owners faces, that anyone would still consider that stuff , much less PROMOTE it..

Is 30- $50 bucks in savings on a case really worth the risk after seeing the pictures from members who were unfortunate enough to purchase this stuff and what it did to their rifles ?

I ask because im always surprised how much i see people talking about this stuff on this board..

The only reman rifle ammo I ever bought was Black Hills 5.56. I bought a few boxes of 3D 45 reloads maybe 30 years ago. I shoot factory or my own reloads. Period.

Let's put Chicas input into perspective

I've heard that you can use a scope mounted directly on the rail (w/o riser) even if you have an A2 front sight post.
I'm thinking of getting the UTG Bug buster scope because of the ruggedness/size/ and value,

From here:completely blows off good advice

I have a question:  Why is it so horrible to shoot ammo reloaded by others yet wonderful to reload yourself?   What if my friend is super skilled with great attention to detail, and I am a buffoon.  Will his still blow up my gun and mine be wonderful?

Unless you watched your friend load the ammo, you don't know what kind of QC practices he uses or if he was distracted for just a moment by his wife, dog, tv, etc etc.

A guy at work likes to unwind with his Dillon press and Black Velvet. He has not had a problem yet, I would not shoot his ammo.

You save the drinking for AFTER you've loaded up a bunch of ammo and are ready to dump it all over the floor and roll around in it naked, or is that just me?

I have a friend who is indeed a very skilled and experienced reloader. 50 years or more experience. One thing he does is turn out thousands of rounds of .223 on his 650. It's a plinking / blasting load that he's been using for many years. Any time we shoot together he has 50 cal ammo cans full of the stuff and tells us to help ourselves.

I trust him and that load, 55 gr Hornady sp and I don't recall the powder he uses, is very accurate stuff. It's not hot, just accurate.

He's been taking the time to advise and help me get started on the path to loading my own.

So I trust Black Hills and one guy that is a friend and I trust him.

Only reloaded ammo I use are my own reloads. 5.56 ammo is too cheap to be buying reloaded ammo. Sure way to damage your firearm using someone else's reloaded ammo.

How do you track how many times a single casing has been reloaded?

With factory ammo as cheap as it is right now and only getting cheaper, I see no point in reloading. Any amount of perceived savings is eaten up in equipment, components and time invested. Not to mention, during a panic when everyone is trying to find ammo the reloaders are complaining about not being able to find primers, powder, etc.

You make a fair point and what I've adapted to for the past year or so is to buy a case of practice ammo, shoot it, save the brass, and load premium ammo out of it. You can save quite a bit loading fusions etc. I usually lose my cases while hunting anyway.

How much do you really save when you can periodically buy premium ammo for $0.50 per round? PSA has 64 gr. Gold Dot on sale for $11 a box right now. And that is with nickel cases.

I have tried Freedom Munitions 9 mm reloads.
They are using really dirty powder, I had a lot of squibs and at least one or two short stroking per mag.
Customer service is really bad.

I also tried LAX reloads. LAX just uses really dirty powder.

Now, I am buying factory new.

The problem is you don't know what other people did to reload or how competent they are. It's not that your reloads are magically better than others, or something.

I would trust one member of my family's reload since I know he's been doing it for years. Would I trust a random stranger's reload? Or a friend? No, I would not.
