The problem is finding it; there are better choices at better prices and it seems to come in stock in batches at various vendors.

The cheapest I have found recently is $1.05; >$1.25 is more common.

SGAmmo when they have it.

Why not buy GMM  ? . for about the same money it is a better performer

Best I had ever seen was at PSA about this time last year.  500 rounds XM118LR loose for $330.  Most of the time it is almost double that...

Thanks for the replies. I found some from UN ammo in Az for $1.20  a round. I will give the Fed GMM try.

The IMI 175 and 168 grain stuff might be good too.  SG Ammo has that...

Those bulk boxes of XM118LR are NOT the same lot.  I had one several years ago that had 4 different headstamps.

I wouldn't buy the stuff for 75 cents per round.

How did it shoot?

All over the place.  Best groups were around 1.25 moa, but it would  throw a flier out to 2 or 3 every now and then.  I got more consistent results from M80 out of the rifles I was shooting at the time.

To me, the whole point of shooting M118LR is accuracy.  If you have ammo that is not only not from the same lot, but not from the same year (now the brass, bullets, and powder are different), how can you expect consistency?

To me, the only value of XM 118LR is if you were going to pull and reload it, or if it was cheap enough to just be m80 blasting ammo.

I just bought 200 rounds of Federal GMM 175 grn for a dollar per round from Palmetto State Armory.

That was a week ago, but worth a look.

Got the notification from PSA that the LC M118LR is back in stock, this morning.  It's jumped in price...now $549.99 per 500rd loose pack box.

I'm out at that price and with FGMM on sale, there, for a buck a round...that's what I'd do.

That LC stuff was $449.99 when I last bought some in March 2016, from PSA.  I liked it and shot all of it up but that was as much as I was willing to pay for it.

175gr Fed GMM is my choice for affordable factory match .308 ammo. PSA usually has it on sale for $20/20 box.

I got lucky on 1,500 rounds of M118LR off a local guy panic selling his ammo stash due to medical bills or something.

5,200 rounds of assorted 7.62x51 for $1,100 in ammo cans

Mostly Lake City 149gr XM80, a bunch of it on m60 belts, and 2 750rd cans of M118LR

I almost felt bad but the guy was an idiot. The M118LR shoots really good out of my 7.62 M1 Garand and decent in my LR308 build, but not out of my friends SCAR it was all over the place.

If it's real M118LR in cans and of the same lot number, it is great stuff.  I haven't seen any for sale in years, but I haven't been looking, either.  There was one bad year, Maybe 03 or 04, that had some issues, but I can't remember off the top of my head.

For a buck a round, it's hard to beat the FGMM 175s from PSA.

Good feedback and it makes a lot of sense due to the nature of the different lots.  I've heard this works well in the LMT MWS which is driving my interest in it...
