Hey guys, I'm looking into buying some m855 62 gr lake city ammo. I notice some are marked NATO and some are not. What's the difference and which one should I be after?

I just ran a quick search for IMI M855 and it is all out of stock at the places that sell it for reasonable prices.

The IMI is really nice stuff as far as QC goes. But there are other good sources of the Federal/Lake City stuff all over the place.

I suggest you look at Gun-Deals.com for example, and pull up .223/5.56 in the caliber and select "All" to show all the deals rather than just the cheapest 80 sources.

When you do this, you will see something over 300 sources, but then you will tap the weight column to sort by bullet weight. Scroll down past all the 55 grain till you see 62 grain, and then start looking for M855 from Federal/Lake City. BTW, the 62 grain PMC X-Tac is known to be very good even though they don't market it as M855. See the posts by Molon if you want to read some excellent comparison posts.

If you are mail ordering, put in your zip code and you will see the total price to your door per round.

All mine are Federal XM855 with the year of production and the NATO circle+cross on the head stamp. Tip dipped in green. I am not sure if other brands are marked the same way.

So any of the Federal Lake City is what you seek.

Yes, I can only find the federal m855 62.gr for .45 a round. Is that high?
But PMC xtac PAC is .38 a round. Is the m855 that much better than xtac?

Did you do the web search sites and add your zip code? I see several sources that drop it at my door for less than .45 per round.

Is it better than PMC X-Tac? No, not really. You can read a few posts on this forum and see those conclusions.

Now confusion sets in,

You had just said you specifically wanted Lake City M855.
PMC is not Lake City.

If M855 is what you seek...look no further.
