Label maker.  Brother P-touch.  I use this on mags too.  Black tape works great on mags.

I use regular mailing labels with a piece of clear tape over it. They aren't going anywhere, but are easily removed when I decide to use the can for something else.

I just use a strip of blue painters tape with caliber and amount written on it. Sharpie on the can works just as well.

Nothing fancy

Scrap of masking tape and the caliber scribbled on it with a sharpie.

Large stencil spray painted number on the can for the Excel database to track quantity and caliber on hand. Brother P touch label on the can for immediate identification of can contents without spreadsheet.

Date bought, quantity, type of cartridge, price per round, and SC for stripper clipped .. if applicable.... all on a bulk bought label.

Inside the can.....Loose packed with a least one of the OEM boxes, and 3 desiccants.

KISS Principal
China marker wipes right off with some alcohol. Easiest way to re-label when you reuse a can.
No adhesive left from tape. No label or tape to rip and tear.
Sharpie works the same with alcohol too.

Blue painters tape with Sharpie, like many others.

Caliber on the hasp of the can, specific contents on the lid.

no because its easier to read in low light.

I gave up on labels/tape. too much work

silver/gold marker stands out, faster than anything else, easily changed with a rag and acetone ( or your wife fingernail cleaner)

This, and I use different label colors for handgun/rifle/shotgun ammo as well.

Reminds me of a nice wine cellar. Like to see that layer of dust on the ones that are aging the longest

I started with white paint marker. That got messy when the tip would start to bleed. Switched over to labels for cleaner looking labeling.

Yup

I was using a label maker, but it's quicker, easier, and cheaper to use the tape & sharpie.  Not to mention, easier to peel off for changes, and I can read my handwriting better than I can the small print from the label maker.

I'm in need of re-organizing

^ This, on the top and all sides.

My reload cans are marked " X caliber RELOAD" and then I have a piece of paper taped inside the lid on what the load is. For example "230gr CPRB 5gr W231 CCI LPP" (230grain Copper Plated Round Ball, 5 grains of Winchest 231 powder, CCI Large Pistol Primer)

I store my pistol ammo lose in plastic ammo cans, while I store my .223/5.56 ammo in marked magazines in .50cal mil ammo cans.
