So what happened to the Speer .223 75 grain? There was a post on here a while ago about it, but nothing since. Anyone have any additional info?

That article says expansion out to 200 yards out of a 10" barrel, those numbers look respectable.

If one distributor has it.... that means it is in the system.

Very good news.

I'll pass. I am happy with several heavies at much lower prices.

Speer/Federal/ATK has been shying away from component sales for a while. Fusion and Gold Dot rifle bullets are the discontinued Speer Deep Curl bonded component bullets with a boat tail added on for better ballistics. Deer Thugs ammo at Walmart are the Deep Curl bullets without a boat tail.

Federal also discontinued component sales of the Trophy Bonded Bear Claw and Trophy Bonded Tip.

They want hunters and shooters buying their marked-up loaded ammo, not their components, and are perfectly willing to discontinue flagship reloading products like the TBBC bullet in this environment of sales growth.

Winchester/Nosler is far kinder to handloaders in that respect.

Expensive round, but impressive indeed.

It's all based on sales numbers. If something lags, it gets cut. That said, if there isn't funding to do load data work up, it won't be offered as a component.
