I picked up a few hundred to load but the bullet looks similar to the Amax line, which shoots better in some of my guns.


Do you think it will fragment as much as the amax (155/308 rounds)?


Has anyone seen any ballistic shots of it?

Hey T,
    I have done water-shot expansion testing with the 69GR./77GR./125GR. TMK & the 155GR./208GR. AMAX. And I have now put all except the 155GR. AMAX into flesh & bone targets. It has been win-win with all these bullets so far. At  this point, I think the TMK has a slightly lighter jacket than the AMAX which allows it to expand/fragment a little easier. When I tested the 0.224" TMKs in longer barrels/at higher impact velocity, they exhibited what I refer to as terminal expansion/fragmentation: The TMK bullet core expanded/fragmented all the way down to the base of the copper jacket. But the terminal performance of the 155GR. AMAX based factory Hornady 308 TAP load is hard to improve on IMO. I hope to test 0.308" TMKs in 300BLK/308/7.62/30-06 on an extended hunt/shoot in mid September. Choice between AMAX & TMK will probably come down to accuracy in each specific barrel. Either bullet will do extreme tissue damage to thin skinned flesh & bone targets.

Both the 125GR. TMK & the 155GR. AMAX achieved approx. 40% fragmentation while the cores expanded to 0.70" plus. I collected all the fragments I could find but most of the 155GR. AMAX fragments were lost in the huge amount of water violently displaced by the shot. Note that there was almost 600 FPS disparity of impact velocity in favor of the AMAX. I don't have a measured MV for the 155GR. AMAX based TAP load fired from a standard M14 but will get one next time I chrono 308/7.62MM.
