Dr Roberts suggests this in his article about self defense for the 6.8...

"Hornady 115 gr OTM (loaded by Remington) -- This load has dominated recent military terminal performance testing because of it’s early yaw and superb fragmentation, even at reduced impact velocities. It has far better terminal performance than the SMK 115 gr OTM."

Does he mean this ? I can't find anything about Hornady 115 OTM loaded by Remington... Or I don't understand what he means...

And another stupid question what is a crimped primer and does that cartridge you linked have it?

The hornady load does have crimped primers which is a great thing in a defensive load as it insures that the primer will stay in the cartridge.  As far as the article I am guessing the info is very old and wrong, that's my best guess from following the 6.8 round for 10 years.

I have always stayed away from Remington 6.8 ammo because of all the bad buzz about it, but a buddy gave me a box of that exact stuff you linked to try out. Sure enough, it shot like shit. Best I could get was around 6 moa. It cycled fine and no keyholes, but accuracy was junk.

The 115 grain fusion load shoots sub-moa in my 16" DD and in my opinion is a better self defense bullet.





 


ETA: the Hornady linked in the above post would also be an excellent choice in the match or the v-max.
