In 5.56 I use 193 and 855 and have pretty good luck but Prvi 223 55gr is more consistent for me out of my 8" 1:7. Bought a case.

You're going to need a bullet that is designed to fragment at lower speeds. Personally, for my 7.5" AR, I bought this:
http://www.sgammo.com/product/adi-outback/20-round-box-223-adi-outback-55-grain-sierra-blitz-king-ammo-aob223sbk According to Sierra, the 55gr, .224 projectile is rated ".224 @ 1800 fps and below" for expansion. Personally...I do not use my AR pistol for a self/home defense weapon, but I always keep some ammo on hand just in case. |

Please refer to the "Best Choices..." post at the top of the forum. It lists suggested ammo for SBRs.
