I hope this the right place for this.

Does anyone have experience/recommendations for a home defense round to be fired from a 10.5" 1/7" AR SBR? Most if not all reviews I've seen of the go-to rounds are typically fired from 16" barrels. The shorter barrel worries me due to lack of adequate velocity for any expansion or fragmentation.

Thanks!

Black Hills 50 gr TSX "That would be about 75 yards from an 8" gun. Past that, I still don't want to be shot at, but you'd have expansion out to 75 yards."

Federal Fusion 62gr.  Seems to usually be readily available at relatively good prices and should be very effective.

See the "Best choices for defensive ammo" thread up top. SBR's are addressed.
