All,

I'm shooting a BCM 14.5" carbine for coyotes and am trying to pick out a new round for it. I'm looking at the Hornady 55 grain SP and they seem to get good reviews online. The question I am looking for an answer for is should I have any concern about potential reliability issues? I've found them for about $0.50/rd so it would be good for me to stock up if it will feed reliably. Any thoughts?

Not only GTG, but very accurate as well.  I own a lot of it.  I will own more as well.

I use them in a 10.5" without issues. Great varmint bullets.

I killed a button buck at 70 m with it from a 14.5". Ran less than 100 m and lay down and died.

Bullet went through both lungs, clipped the heart and jacket was found in the opposite shoulder blade. Not premium stuff but like others said reliable, accurate and performed well.

IMO they are the best bang for the buck bullet out there.

They are hard.  Not a typical varmint bullet 223 round.

I agree.  Not what will make a Prairiedog pop, but should be gtg on a yote.  Hell, I actually think they would be a decent HD load.  I've killed deer and pigs with them, and those are typically a lot tougher than a man sized man.  lol

I double tapped a hog at close range with that load, it worked pretty well. I usually use the federal fusion msr rounds now because I find them everywhere.

They feed great in my rifles and are very accurate. Coyotes hate them!!!

It is an outstanding bullet for the money.

I have over 5,000 of them loaded up. I have over 6,000 of them sitting on the shelf ready to load. I have fired close to 10,000 of them.

I almost got a shot tonight at a coyote with them, but it presented through some trees and I didn't have a good enough sight picture to pull the trigger.

As others have said, they are an accurate bullet. I have 9 AR15s and they all love this bullet. It doesn't matter whether it is a 1:7 or a 1:8 or a 1:9 twist, they all shoot well.

If you are still hesitating, I'd say: "Go for it!"

I gather you're talking about factory ammunition, which I don't have experience with, but the Hornady 55 grain soft point with cannilure is my go-to bullet for general purpose reloads. They function perfectly and produce great accuracy.
