So I was looking at ammo to buy for target shooting, and was looking at silver bear. Should I get the silver bear or save the $0.03 per bullet and just go with the regular steel cased stuff? Im looking at getting about 500 rds and found it for $0.35 per round after shipping, where as the regular bear is about $0.30-0.32 give or take.

Is that ammo crappy or will it suffice, not wanting to have sub MOA groups, just wanna get some trigger time in.

You might get more info if you titled it "silver Bear vs Wolf" or something.  I thought you were asking questions about ammo for bears. lol

Palmettostatearmory, they have federal 100 round boxes for 33 dollars.  Sold out but will be back in a week.  They also have 50 round boxes of fiocchi brass ammo for 16 dollars.  Buy this stuff before you buy wolf or silver bear.

CPR is cents per round.

Brass can be had for those prices:

start using gunbot.

Wolf ~$0.22-24/rd, get it before Tula.

At equal prices I'd take Silver Bear/Colt but the preference is admittedly slight and rather arbitrary.

~$0.30+/rd you should be getting brass.

Silver Bear has steel cases that are zinc plated.  It's made by Barnaul, a quality company.  Barnaul also makes "Brown Bear" ammo, which is plain steel cased ammo.  I've shot lots and lots of their plain stuff, and it's reliable and consistent.

Wolf is an importer/marketer, not a manufacturer.  They have ammunition made to their spec and sell it under their label.  It kind of makes a difference what Wolf you're looking at, because old Wolf black box used to be made by Tula, and that's the "Wolf is crap" ammunition that gave people the idea that all steel cased ammo is crap.  I believe the current WPA and Polyformance stuff is made by Barnaul, which to me says it's OK.  And Hornady gets their primed, steel cases from Barnaul.

I like Silver bear. It shoots the same point of impact as XM193 in my rifle.
I keep a supply of 62gr HP's when I can find it.
