Looking at changing up my SBR defensive ammo choice. I currently have a couple hundred rounds of Mk318 which I believe should be pretty good within 100 yards out of a 10.5".



Would the Federal Fusion (F223FS1) 62 gr perform better or the same out of a short barrel (10.5")? Any idea roughly out to what distance one could expect maximum lethality out of that round?

I would go with the Fusion from your two choices. I'm not sure on expansion but I believe that bullet does fairly well even at lower velocities. It'll for sure work at any reasonable SD distance.
ETA: 100 yards shouldn't be an issue at all.

Perfect sbr loading.   Expands below 1800fps.   Still getting excellent expansion at 200 yards from your sbr.   My go to load.   I cant link on an ipad but a member here tested it out of a 7" baarel, at 1925fps, and was still getting full expansion.


If you handload, RMR has them as pulls for about 120/1k
