THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT
An order of FBI contract ammo showed up at work today. I am running a rifle class next week so I hope to get a lot of rounds down range to test it out. Interesting bullet construction. Here are some photos of the ammo. David

No, only a few agencies are included on the contract. This was a department purchase and took a while to get. I would guess it will be sometime before anything but factory seconds are available to individuals. David

Here is the thread I posted a few weeks ago. I'm also waiting on a shipment of the frangable for use on green ammo only ranges. I'm at home and would have to look at the purchase order for the ammo code. David

I just scored a whopping 7 boxes of RA556B, Which I believe is the Ranger version of this load. Funny thing is that it is in a new Black Ranger box, I wonder if that is just for the RA556B or if the whole line is changing packaging. Aside from the box it looks identical to this ammo here

Its the same thing it is just boxed up in 20 round box instead of 30 rounds on stripper clips

From what I read the packaging on stripper clips was part of the contract. Ammo cans were also in the contract, but Winchester called after the order was placed and advised they were not shipping us the ammo cans. I was sad when I found out I was not getting 225 ammo cans David

I just bought 360 rounds of Federal's FBI load, XM556FBIT3. Have not seen the Winchester load in this thread for public sale yet.

Nothing really to update. So far I've switched about 30 officers over from our old ammo T223E to this Winchester. Only a few thousand rounds shot with no bad rounds encountered. The only interesting thing is the old 55gr Federal seems to hold a tighter group than the 64gr Winchester in our LWRC and Colt rifles. I would have thought the 1 in 7 would have prefered the heavier round. I haven't been able to shoot past 100 yards yet. David

Has anyone chronographed the 64 grain solid base (Q3313) load yet from 16 and 20 inch barrels?

I have used the 55 grain Federal Tactical (with original Trophy Bonded solid base) for years. I am down to last 200 rounds of it and would like to get a replacement.

The Fusion is decent but not especially fast and no solid base. Just a plated lead bullet like the old Remington Power Lokt HP. The bonded Remington is very explosive. Used both on coyotes but no where near the windshield or cinder block performance of the oldr Trophy Bonded solid base.

Replace it with the FBI Winchester stuff. XM556FBIT3
Same thing you have now, just 62gr, sealed at both ends, 5.56 pressure.

And it would appear that SGammo has re-stocked the XM556FBIT3. Still expensive but I'll be buying a few boxes.

Out of my 16 inch 1:9 twist gun, it shot at 2946 fps.
