Any suggestions on which 77 grain 5.56 ammo brands would be best as far as accuracy, cleanliness, price and knock down power for hunting and/or home defense.  My rifle is a Colt LE 6920 16" free float barrel with 1/7 twist.  I understand the 77 grain rounds should fly well with this setup...I have a lot of weapon shooting training but don't know all the techie ammo stuff...thanks :-)

Blackhills 77 grain is good, its what i shoot through my Mk12 Mod0.  If u want it for hunting then i suggest getting your hands on some Barnes Ammo.

Try the Hornady TAP ammo. That is what I have for hunting.

also check out Barnes 70gr TSX, its an all copper bullet so its actually longer than a 77gr SMK

Usually it is cheaper to buy online.  You just gotta watch for shipping prices.  Sometime once you figure that in it can be about equal.  Check aim and wideners for good deals, but I don't know if they'll have any 77's.

Or cartridges with Barnes bullets.  They'll make great HD cartridges too.

Try southwestammunition.com. looks like cost is reasonable. I haven't tried any of their ammo. Looking at what they offer can't hurt.

All the above suggestions are more accurate than what I am going to advise. They are better in every way except price

Privi Partisan match ammo in 69 and 75gr is less than half the price of the above posted.

Compared to M855/M193 Privi is much more accurate. I shoot it under 1MOA so

I bought 2 cases of each as I feel it is excellent HD ammo as well as enough take down for small deer if required.

I can buy 1200 rounds for every 500 case of Federal or Black Hills Match and while strictly IMO I would rather have the extra rounds.

The match brass is excellent for reloading match ammo in my 26" 1/7 AR target rifle

Check Wideners and AIM for these
