I am planning on doing an SBR, and won't be shooting suppressed to start with.  The barrel maker I want to purchase from makes barrels in 4.5 or 8.5 inch lengths.  I don't really want 8.5.  What I'd like to have is 5.5 to 6, but it' not available from my preferred vendor.  My thought was to use a Guntec 4" handguard, and a KVP linear comp to get a little extra length.

Has anyone tried this combination, and did it work ok?

After choosing 7.5" for my first AR9, I went with a 4.5" barrel on the second build and couldn't be happier.

For handguard, I went with the 4.5" lightweight keymod one made by LFA (great deal at only $39) and a KAK micro slimline flash can to extend the muzzle a little.
