Why were the original Colt 9 MM SMG bolt lower surface profile and hammer shape so different from the traditional M16?  Were the notched hammer and non-ramped bolt meant to hang up and make it less likely to go full auto if the disconnector failed or were modified?  It seems like a standard ramp profile bolt is more reliable with after market triggers.  If anyone knows I'd be curious to learn.
