So, my forms for my suppressor and my SBR lower are still pending, but with election times coming up and prices at a low point, I know I need to stock up on subsonic 9mm while the getting is good. Any one have any suggestions on brands or where to order in bulk? I've seen a few decent prices but don't know for sure which to go with. I saw that minuteman munitions seems to have a pretty decent price on remanufactured but I've never used any of there stuff before. I'd be greatful to be pointed in the right direction.

I would take a look at the Speer Lawman 147gr that sgammo has on sale right now for .25c/round shipped. Also many like the freedom munitions Hush ammo line or their 147gr. I don't buy reman ammo so I cant comment on options for that.

American Eagle 147gr is good also for most subsonic work

recently tried the 158gr Fiocchi in my 9mm suppressed subgun, and its definately quieter than the 147s, but isnt nearly as accurate for some reason out of my gun  I just use it for general quiet blasting...

I try to stick to 147gr for general subsonic use.  Most recently had a few cases of Speer Lawman TMJ from sgammo.com that worked fine, quiet and clean in all my suppressed 9mm platforms.

Various 158gr subsonic loadings are available and I often run 158gr IMI "blue tip" subsonic in my Uzi, AR or MACs, but it has a different recoil impulse that was messing up my MP5 extractor springs - an issue I didn't run into with any of the 147gr loadings I've used.

Pretty sure the Hush is new and not remanufactured. And they have it in 165gr now also.

Correct. Hush line is new production and well liked by many testing suppressors with it online. I didn't say it was reman but can see how it can be read that way. I personally don't buy reman ammo due to the many negative reviews and with factory new ammo affordable right now, I don't see the benefit.

Seems like 147 grain is what most of you guys are using for general suppressed plinking ammo. I'll give it a go.

Sorry. I reread it and I see what you were saying. I agree with the reman, I don't buy it either!

I reload but also like Detroit Ammo Co's ammo. They sell remanufactured stuff but specialize in subsonic. They are the new Special K.

I've put a few hundred Winchester 147's and Fiocchi and IMI 158's through my 9mm SBR (9" TROS 3 lug, Octane 9HD) and had no problems.   My lower is a QC10 Colt mag, spring is JP's captured unit, bolt is JP as well,  LRBHO works, brass ejects at around 2-3 O'Clock.   I'm a lefty, and I don't feel there is any more crap coming out of the ejection port than any other AR I've shot.  I need to send them over the Crony and see what the FPS is.  I'm guessing they are right at 1050.  ???

Amazing the difference between 115gr, 147's and 158's noise wise.

No can yet, so I just go for less sound in my 10.5" w/ FH, 147 AE or Speer lawman, Rem 147 HP's yellow & green box,or IMI military surplus 158gr.(quiet) w/o a can I think 22 stingers are louder.

I mainly shoot 124 grain just because I can get it cheap, but the 158 Fiocchi that I have put through my Glock lower with 4.5 inch barrel and Ti Rant 9 have been exceedingly quiet, but extremely inaccurate.  At 25 yards with an Eotech, with the 124 grain I can eat out the center of a target no issues.  Once I switch to the 158 grainers, I might as well be shooting 00 buck from what the target looks like.

I haven't tried any 147 grain yet, but will be grabbing some for my range trip this weekend.  Hopefully it solves my issues or there will be another barrel in my future.

What is the twist rate?  TROS 9mm barrels are 1-10" for 147-158 grain bullets.  I'm not sure what others use.

Taking the 9mm SBR out tomorrow with some different loads, in between morning and evening hunts I'm going to try to run some different loads over the chronograph.

I've only tried two brands of 147gr.

Freedom Munitions sounds great!  Especially out of my Tirant 9.

Blazer Aluminum is not so good.  Sounds more like 124gr than the 147 that it is .

I'm glad you mentioned Freedom Munitions, I've been thinking hard about ordering a couple thousand rounds of their 147's since I can get free shipping on my first order.

I like the Speer lawman 147 but it seems when the temp is below about 70, the rounds still give a crack out of my 8.5" barrel. On 80+ degree days I didn't get any sonic crack.

Interesting. Out of my 8" barrel with a Ti-Rant I was getting a mix a cracks (super-sonic? trans-sonic? I wish I had a chrony) on a hot 90 degree day.

You must have deep pockets... I loaded (3000) for maybe $15 more than you paid  for (2000) of  the SPEER Lawmans at $216/1000 shipped...........  You'll  pay $648/3000 shipped..   $750/3000... no way..

My M&P 9 liked the American Eagle 147 grain ammo I ran - I want to try a few other brands now that availability is improving, but it's likely going to be my choice unless I find something that performs notably better.  I've seen the Fiocchi 158 grain mentioned as a very quiet load, but this thread indicates accuracy suffers.

As the other guys said, roll your own.

Nearly anything you load on a 147gr bullet will be subsonic.  The 147gr Acme's I load with 3.1gr of Titegroup are under 900 fps.

Reloaders always chime in on how much they save but neglect to inform us of how much time and the expense it takes. How much time did it take to get that proficiency level if you're cranking out 500rds/hr? How much did you have to buy in bulk to get the cost per round that low? How much equipment have you purchased for reloading, did you start on a single stage?

Not to mention the 8lb canister of gunpowder "bought real cheap" in 1998 but not utilized until yesterday, 17 years later.

3000 assembled 9mm at 100 every 10 minute after press loaded with primers (I have 5 primer tubes loaded before hand),, fill my feed tubes with brass, verify powder weight, and have at it.. powder is out of stash,  1 1/2 lb Titegroup ($23/bottle) do (3000) 147gr loads,, primers at $35/1000.. I think I did the 3000 run over 3 sitting maybe,, wasn't a 1 shot deal..

In real life, I did have (4) 8lb bottle of 844 back in 2004-2006 era, have maybe 20lb left.. have essentially a FREE jug of VARGET,, bough t a fella out, sold all the other powder for more than I paid initially,, free VARGET, 6lb left from maybe 6yr ago..

I done covered basic 650 press cost 10-11yr ago,, figured it only took around (5000) 9mm handload to cover press cost.. tooling all bought over last 28 yr as I need / desire,, Dillon 550 from 1988-2004, untold qty of 9mm, 45, and 38 Super

I understand the economics and benefits of reloading if the equipment is used and in performed in sufficient quantities.  It's sounds like you've more than justified the expense and effort years ago.  It's just the case that I've seen a few dusty reloading benches.

I have had nothing but great experience with all ammo I bought from Freedom Munitions. The Hush line is great, but a bit pricey. That being said, the deal for Speer 147 grain on SGammo is unbeatable. This is an amazing deal hands down. I am going to order a case right now. Thanks for the info
