ETA: New questions farther down. also big thanks to Mad Machinist.

Just finished my newest build: PSA 10.5" upper w/ ramped bolt and MK9 CMMG pistol lower and an old colt carry handle I had laying around.

Questions:
1.Is this the ramped bolt? No invoice included, but I ordered the complete upper including the ramped bolt

2. Will the carry handle work as a rear sight? It seems it might be too low to work with the F FSB.

3. Does the FSB look canted to anyone else?

Thanks. Range report friday morning.

3. Does the FSB look canted to anyone else? No, FSB looks fine to me. what I think your seeing is a slight cant in the HG, without a gas tube to align the barrel nut its probably just a little off.

Thanks. After some reading, all the rear sights are the same height, it's the FSB That are different heights so it should work.

Range Report: Got it zeroed at about 25yds no problem, but damn this thing is a jam-o-matic.

Probably between 5-10 rounds each magazine was a failure to feed. No double feeds or anything, but seemed like the bullet was out of alignment and got jammed up. Bent the crap of of each bullet. I didnt take any pics of the jams, but any suggestions?

I was using crappy perfect 9mm mostly but Ive had no issues with it in any of my pistols. Also had some federal range ammo, but not much better.

Good news, when It did shoot it was pretty fun. Hitting steel plate at 25yds offhand really easy. I made a single point sling that worked pretty well.

Try different ammo, and different mags

Getting a half moon shaped crease on the bottom of the rounds when it jams....correct? I can fix it......send me your barrel and cover return shipping.....I will make the problem go away.......or since you are in SC...if you want to road trip over to Macon, I'll do it while you wait........and show you a bunch of toys  .

Yeah. It looked like they were getting bent in half.
Also I was using metal form for psa mags. I read they were pretty good.

I kind of want to find some NATO ammo to break mine in. I'd test out different types, also you might want to mess with a different buffer.

My CMMG MK9 jams consistently with Metal Form mags but feed 100% with ASC mags.  Why? I have no idea.

very simple fix....do you have a lathe and a dremel with hard cratex points?

No lathe, but drill press, dremel and hand drill.

really need a lathe.....if you want to send me the barrel and one of the offending mags......I'll mod at no charge to confirm my hypothesis of what is causing the issue......just cover shipping. This offer applies to anyone posting the problem in this thread above this post. With the barrels I make I haven't had the problem......but I have solved it in numerous instances.....just want to increase the sample size  to confirm.

I sent you an IM.

Heres some photos of the jam Im talking about:
Had 5 loaded in the mag, bolt locked back and then bolt released on the first round:

This is the resulting round, and the half moon crease.

Sending off this week to get fixed hopefully.

What about feeding with HP ammo? I have a JSE barrel in mine that eats FMJ like a fat kid eats cale but still smashes Wide meplat HP into the chamber.

This is seriously worrying me. I just built a 9mm upper and haven't been able to test fire it yet. (Waiting on my BCPDedicated  Lower to be fixed/replaced.)

I ended up purchasing a JSE barrel as well. Hoping it shoots good when I make it to the range.

Just got the upper in this AM.......tore it down ....applied the mod...assembled and test fired.....100 round with zero malfunctions....used a PSA magwell adapter in one of my lowers.....and tested with a PSA mag and a polymer Promag that was given to me by a friend cause it wouldn't feed for crap in any of his 9mm AR's.
Probably won't get it shipped till the AM

Thanks will do. Should have my lower back this week. I probably won't be hitting the range until the week after.

Just got the upper back from Mad Machinist. It will now chamber a round using the bolt release without jamming (it would jam 3/4 times before). ill post back results once i get to the range this week maybe. ill have this and another rifle to test/sight it.

Finally got to the range to test the mad machinist fix:
My federal range ammo worked great.
Perfecta still jammed every few rounds, so it seems like the AR doesn't agree with perfecta.

So it appears it is fixed. Ill just use the perfecta in my pistols and other stuff in the AR.

Great to hear.  I just ordered a new 4.5"  9mm barrel from Mad Machinist cut to 13.5 x 1LH with his reliability cut already applied.

Rudy has been great to deal with and super fast all around!

only complaint now is the standard 9mm PSA barrel threading in 1/2x36. Everything else I have is 1/2x28 and makes it a pain to plan for silencers.

I really like shooting this gun, although it would be better as a SBR. I'm thinking now a mag block would have been better than a dedicated lower to have a little more versatility.

Another update: shot 3 mags with no failures.  one mag was a mix of federal and perfecta and didn't notice a difference. so maybe it likes perfecta now.
