I am looking for muzzle devices in the 9mm & up range in 5/8" thread.

Haven't found a lot of A2 style hiders nor much for brakes or comps.

If I could get some recomendations it would be greatly appreciated.

My Rock River Arms16"  9mm upper came with a standard A2 birdcage, ran that for a year then pulled it off and just put on a thread protector. Now it has a YHM Phantom flash hider that was a takeoff from my 7.62x39 upper. To be honest, none of these made any difference.

My main thing is all the A2's I have the holes are too small to allow a .358"  bullet. Maybe I have some weird ones or something....

I'm going to be running the cheap $30 kak flash can on my 9mm build.

Did you go with an Orion barrel?

I have no issues with my RRA 9mm FS, didn't see any need to upgrade.  Recoil is a non issue.

My barrels are custom made.

I will check out KAK to see what they offer in 5/8" thread.

I ask not because of one particular asset of recoil reduction but one that will fit a 5/8"-24 thread & for use with 35 caliber bullets.

I only saw RRA offering 1/2" threaded muzzle devices. I will ask them in their industry section.

A suppressor is the only way to go for 9mm.

I wanted to post that, but held off.  But since you lit the fuse....

Maybe get a regular 9mm muzzle device and have it rethreaded?  I think if they reamed out the existing thread they could then thread to 5/8 without a problem.  Standard thread for 9mm barrels is 1/2x36.

There's really so little muzzle flash on a 9mm 16" barrel that its barely worth the effort.

I agree a suppressor is the bees knees. It has been mentioned that 9mm pistol supps. probably can't handle what I'm cooking...

35KLR thread A little more flash also.

If I was going to go through the trouble of rethreading wouldn't it be easier to increase the inside diameter of a A2 for .308 already threaded for 5/8-24?

GT, mine is a RRA bbl, so prolly not the thread size you need.

Steve responded to me & said they didn't make anything.

I've had success with drilling out an existing bird-cage type with a 3/8" drill bit for my 9mm rifle.  I used my lathe to do it, but I know a few other folks have done it with a drill press and vise.  Just make sure you clean and de-burr the part after drilling it out.  Mine works great.  Hope that helps,

The Noveske KX3 in 5/8x24 should work fine. I run the 1/2x28 version on my 9mm SBR. I haven't measured the inside of the 5/8 model, but there is plenty of clearance for a 9mm bullet in the 1/2x28. As a matter of fact an entire 9mm cartridge will drop through mine.

Have you looked? A2  5/8x24 $14.99 on Amazon I have one. I haven't used it though. I had an issue with the barrel, sent it back and bought a one with a 1/2 x 36 thread.

I'll look into it.

Greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the recommendation. I saw those. Good to have personal feedback. There were no specs listed for I.D. So I was of the mind they would need to be relieved for my intended purpose.

My RRA 9mm barrel is threaded for 1/2x36, same as my Alpha Shooting Sports 7.62x39 barrel. Most 5/8x24 devices are for .308/AR10.

That is a 3-Lug adapter.  1/2x36 or 1/2x28 to 3-Lug.  Then with the adapter...you can have a 3-Lug Suppressor or maybe a 3-Lug Flash Hider:

Interesting.

So you can get additional collars to go around it to add to said MD's?

Do the make one in 5/8-24?
