Title pretty much says it all. It will be run suppressed 100% of the time. I want the shortest possible option and I want to spend around $500 at the most. I already have a stripped upper, and a barrel to cut down (stag 1:9 5.56 barrel) and I know a guy who will chop and thread for really cheap ( he does flawless work ). What conversion kit have you guys found that works the best with a mixture of ammo? Specifically standard velocity?

A lot of people are running dedicated 22lr uppers. Taccom has 4" barrels and 22lr bolt assemblies in stock.

My taccom setup runs great with cci standard velocity and remington/federal/winchester bulk packs.

Thanks. How is the carbon fiber hand guard mounted? Can I put a rail on it that uses a standard barrel nut to mount?

I am using both TACCOM's 4" and CMMG's 4.5" barrels with no issues. I like the CMMG barrel because it is threaded to Silencerco's o-ring engagement specs.

Even though you are getting a barrel cut on the cheap, these dedicated barrels are only $100-120, but more importantly you get something with the right twist rate and bore diameter.

From L-R: CMMG 4.5" barrel, TACCOM 4" barrel, TACCOM 8.5" barrel, 10/22 with KIDD 6" barrel.

I would run dedicated. For the accuracy in such a short barrel, and the fact the barrels are not a bad price.

CMMG buy once and be done option.

Easy and done and frankly hard to beat one shipping and

TACCOM Barrel and collar options.

These require either the CMMG bolt of Taccom bolt, so add $170 to $220 to the project.

How important to you on this build is empty mag bolt hold open? That answer will drive your magazine system.

I use a spikes 4.5in setup.  I run subsonics all the time with and without a can.

I used a ceiner bolt with the cmmg collar and dedicated 4.5" barrel. Put it together with a cheap Anderson lightweight upper. It does not like Winchester bulk pack, but shoots federal without any issues.

It's made by Nordic Components ... and for some reason they decided to discontinue it even though many people seem to still want it.

I'm Running a taccom dedicated upper with CMMG 4" dedicated barrel/BCG. Using an AAC element2. Haven't had a single issue with it.
