i've got an SBR lower that i want to use to teach my daughter how to manipulate an AR. i have a stripped upper, CMMG kit (that i've had for a while), charging handle, and black dog mags. i'd like to find a barrel (10" or under) which i can use for a dedicated .22 upper, using the CMMG drop-in kit i've had for a while. any suggestions? for the time being, we'd be shooting 50yd max. any suggestions?

Cmmg has 4.5 and 8" I believe that is gtg. Taccom also has good barrels.

I have a CMMG 4.5" and its the tits. If you have a 22lr suppressor, the 4.5" is the best choice, since it will keep bulk stuff subsonic.

I notice that their barrels have an extension protruding from the normal barrel extension. Is my drop in kit compatible with the barrel? Specifically, this one: http://www.cmmginc.com/product_p/22d8f0a.htm

You will need to remove the chamber adapter from your .223 22lr conversion unit and get the collar with a new barrel.  CMMG offers their 22lr barrels for sale with and without the collar, so make sure you order the one with the collar...

Or you could just buy a .223/5.56 barrel if accuracy is not very important versus range time/training...

Customar15.net has 7.5 inch 5.56 barrels on sale for 75. They are ar15performance barrels. I've got one and it shoots great. And if you go with a 5.56 barrel you can have a dual purpuse toy.

Taccom has several short barrels in Ultra light weight or solid steel.
Comes with a collar, is very accurate, great customer service and less expensive than some of the others.
