I have a dedicated Tactical Solutions .22 lr upper and I bought my son a M&P 15-22 for my son for graduation.
The M&P functioned 100% with all the ammo I tried... the dedicated upper, not so much! I picked the M&P because my son was off in college and I was too far away to tinker with an upper to get it to run for him. |

The M&P doesn't look exactly like a 5.56 but they are one hell of a gun for the money. I've owned two. They run flawlessly and are very accurate. You wouldn't be disappointed.

I handled a Colt (Umarex) .22 before I bought my 15-22, and I was not impressed. The 15-22 looks and operates more like an AR than the Colt.

Love my 15-22!!! Super light and it eats everything I feed it. Haven't handled the Colt, but isn't the Colt around $500 or more? You can usually find a 15-22 on sale at Academy for $400 fairly often.
