New Frontier Armory STRIPPED GENII AR15 Polymer Lower Receiver with LPK $71.95
Pistol Plug $20
Slicklside Upper  $70
4" Free Float Tube w/ Barrel Nut $40
4" 22lr pistol Barrel $110
DSA Charging Handle $20
$332

For a 22lr pistol build without an optic/bolt. Not bad.

here is a concept I was thinking about. Yes that is a MP5 SD handguard. It's a stand in for one of those free float tubes. Pimpmygun didn't have standard float tubes.

Already have a Magpul Grip, End Plate, S&W Mag Adapter, A2 Flash Hider

Would probably get:
PA Reflex Sight $90
22lr Bolt $120 (They seem to pop up on EE every now and then)

Would take 15-22 magazines, It would hopefully be light enough to shoot like a regular pistol. It would mostly be for plinking at close range or a compact backpack gun.

I feel like it would have a certain cool factor to it. It would only cost about $550ish over all.

Still cheaper than a 15-22 pistol that has been discontinued x.x

I still think a 2 inch barrel would be kinda lulzy but fun.

Kind of similar.  Used a standard lower and plastic upper with carbon fiber FF tube.

1st issue you will have is a 4" .22 barrel will only have about 2.4" sticking out of the receiver.
A 4" hand guard and A2 will not clear the hand guard.

Thanks Dave, It isn't a bad thing knowing that! Wasn't exactly aware of that. I could add a KAK flash can to fix that issue. Or just cut the tube a bit shorter.

Chris I like the build you have at the moment.

How much did the polymer upper run you out of curiosity?

I was thinking of going all polymer in regards to the upper and lower.

Seems like it was around $50 off of Gunbroker.  It's been a while since I bought it.

It is now a SBR and has a MOE Stock.  I am thinking of building another lower in the same set up.

MAHA

ETA: That is a YHM Pistol Quad Rail.  You can see the 4" barrel under it.  I use a 5.5" Flash hider or suppressor to be able to shoot without any issues.

Smith & Wesson used to make a M&P 15-22 pistol, it's badass, but they are hard to find and expensive.  Chiappa currently makes one that looks pretty nice, but their reputation for low quality prevents me from buying it.  I wish I could turn my 15-22 into a pistol, it would be very easy to cut the buffer tube off and shorten the barrel and hand guard, but some stupid ass law prevents me from turning a rifle into a pistol.  I'd have to get a stamp to do it, but then it would be a rifle, not a pistol.

4" barrel with 5" flash hider. It has since become an SBr

This is how it looks now

You guys just gave me a reason to throw all my random parts together on my Sig braced pistol lower and build a dedicated 22lr upper. These are cool. Thanks for the inspiration.

I have the plug from my former pistol that I'm no longer using. More than welcome to it. PM me for it

I added a sig brace to mine last month and it is much easier to shoot.  Before without the tube or brace it was kind of awkward, do I hold it out with my arms straight like a pistol or hold it up close like a rifle? It has a 6.5" barrel with just a thread protector and a YHM pistol length free float rail

Before:

After:

I might try adding one of the pistol grips with a steeper angle like the K2, but I'm more than happy with it how it is now

Watch out on adding vertical fore-grips to a 'pistol' i think the BATF says that is a no no.

Even though it would be cool to do something like to a pistol that has that sig brace on it.

I meant replacing the pistol grip with one with a steeper angle like the Magpul K2:

These super short .22 barrels would never meet the 26" OAL length requirement to put a vertical foregrip on them

Has to be 26" or longer, & not concealed, to go to "firearm" configuration w/ a VFG, unless you want to buy an AOW stamp.  AFG are fine for pistols.

K2 would be a better choice for such a short pistol. I believe it would make shouldering a pistol a lot less awkward depending on how the LOP is.

while not a pistol, its still short..

A work in progress...
For the moment
PSA Lower with PSA LPK, Redi Mag mag adaptor for S & W mags,  Bad lever,  Hogue grip
Anderson lightweight upper,  Taccom 4" lightweight barrel , CMMG 22 LR charging handle, CMMG SS  bolt with Taccom  firing pin and extractor, USGI three prong flash hider, pistol length free float tube

Nordic CRS. It's discontinued. Good luck finding one. It took me a year of searching before finding this one.

I like my little blaster, CMMG bolt and collar, CMMG 6.5" barrel (which I may have cut down to 4.5"), CMMG 22lr charging handle, JoeBobOutfitters blem upper, NFA polymer lower, Spikes pistol plug.  It needs a new muzzle device, I am unsure what to put on it.

Maybe a compact Linear Comp to push any sound forward? How much muzzle flash are you getting? A2 would probably be best all around imo

The muzzle flash is not bad at all, the 6.5" barrel prevents flip pretty well.  It is almost safe to shoot without hearing protection, if I could bring the noise down even more with the linear comp that would be great but I don't want to add a ton of weight to it.  I will have to look around a bit and see what is out there.

KAK flash can is your answer.  But keep your ear plugs in anyway.

I ended up putting just a thread protector on mine.  I didn't like how much longer anything else made the barrel.  However, a linear comp and a longer rail would look pretty good

I was looking at a BRT Covert Comp Flash Hider

Same size as A2.

Runs about $60 though.

I had to make my own rail from a YHM one.  I bet you can cutdown a carbon fiber one to work. My barrel is 4.5 and my muzzle brake ports just clear the rail.  This being a SBR I can remove the stock and install the pistol plug really easy.

When the stock is collapsed, does it interfere w/ the operation of the bolt hold open?

No it does not.  Clears it just fine.

I made a few changes to my pistol: K2 grip, carbine length UTG Pro super slim handguard, KAK flash can, Anderson slickside upper.
