Just picked up my new SW MP 15-22.  Wondering what ammo everyone prefers... 36 grain?  LRN?? 40Grain?  36Grain cp hp?  Brands?

Thanks

Mine does good will anything I feed it. There is a list of preferred ammo in the owners manual. That would be a good place to start.

I have put 10K rounds of Walmart Federal Redbox through mine. It went 6K+ before I got a few duds in a box.

Amazing. I have shot minimags through it too, but thats all.

At the price and availability of 22LR nowadays. I don't shoot it anymore. The gun rocks however.

I am shooting airguns nowadays. Never thought I would see the day where 22LR was scarce.

I put about 150 rounds of CCI 36gr. Hollow Points through mine and had a few failure to feeds with the magazine.

I tried 150 rounds of Aguila Standard Velocity 40gr. Lead Round Nose and it worked flawlessly.

Just over 5,000 rounds of Federal Bulk (red box). Fed Target works well and even Winchester white box worked well. Had some duds with Remington. CCI works but I save that for the Buckmark since it's picky.

I've had great luck with Federal Automatch; it runs in the S&W and some other stuff as well.
Finding anything right now is the challenge.

Mine LOVES federal bulk pack. Only had 3-4 failures out of the 1000's I've put through it. It does not however like the winchester bulk pack or the Win X ones. Unsure of their name as I only bought them once and went back to federal bulk.

I use mostly CCI mini mags...always been my favorite 22 round. I got to 800 rounds before my first FTF. Due to this craziness I've
had trouble finding mini mags so I've run whatever I can find and my 15-22 eats it all.
I have heard other people having slightly picky ones but for the most part it's all GTG in that little rifle.

That doesn't sound right given that I've been running Federal bulk pack through it with no problems whatsover........1710 rounds so far.....

Without a doubt, they do tend to run and gun.
I'm personally familiar with a couple three of them (mine and other people's), and all have shot straight and run reliably; no mean feat with the hicap mags and .22 ammo.
So ya' know, there's an SSA in mine.

I've got two and used CCI Mini-mags, Winchester M-22's, and even Remington Golend Bullets without any trouble. Remy GB's are listed in the manual as not producing good results but I haven't had the first problem with them. I only bought them because ammo is hard to find and I ran across a bucket of 1400 for $60.00.

Mine loves bulk Federal 36 gr copper plated.  Also have some Federal 40gr/Minimags/RWS it eats it all.  These days shoot what you got, it should be fine if SV.

Mine likes 36 and 40 grain Mini Mags.  I haven't tried anything else yet as I have a pretty good stock pile of Mini Mags.

I have shot all of these through mine with no issues:

Federal Bulk pack (Brown-Wally World)

Federal Bulk Pack (Blue-Cabela's)

Winchester Wildcats

Remington Thunderbolts

CCI Standard Velocity

I mostly use the Federal Bulk packs that you could get at Wal-Mart until recently. Hoping to get more of those soon...

First day I had mine out I used Federal bulk, and Winchester subs, functioned perfectly.

Ummmmm...  .22 LR?  Seriously, my friend seems to have managed to run about every reasonably affordable brand there is through his, and it just eats it up.

Stango, quick question; how's the trigger in your rifle?   A friend got a 15-22 recently, and it has the best OEM trigger I've ever seen.  Like to think it is a conscious effort on the gunmakers' part.

The trigger is fine.... smooth, simple and works every time.   Shot everything I put in it.... never a mis-feed or misfire.  And y'all are right.... it is a blast to shoot.

My 15-22 even eats Rem golden Bullets. I had a bulk box that wouldn't run in a 10/22 but the 15-22 thinks they are OK even with the occasional dud. So far I have not found any ammo that it does not like.
The trigger is smooth and crisp.

After examining some fired cases I see that the fireing pin strike on the rim is deep and solid unlike the strikes done by my CMMG drop in kit or my 10/22. The hard hit of the fireing pin may be why the 15-22s have fewer issues with ammo.

The 15-22 manual literally states that you Rem Golden Bullets are not recommended... That and Rem Target 22 (which I have a lot of left over from a Walther G22 which loved the stuff).

The manual does recommend CCI SV and Mini-mags, Aquila SV and HV ammo, and Win Super-X HV, Federal Gameshok and Fed Am Eagle.

Just picked up a 15-22 for myself.   TRS-25 in route.

The 15-22 manual is pretty old related to ammo recommendations from what I have learned on the SW 15-22 forum.  A lot of folks who have way more experience with the 15-22 than I do have noted an improvement with the Rem GBs compared to a some time ago.  That may be related somewhat to availability but the consensus seemed to be that Remington was doing a better job of QC with the GB ammo.  I've never used it personally but I've not had an ammo issue with my rifle with anything I've loaded in the mag thus far... YMMV
