I have a Ceiner kit from several years back. The Ceiner kit was modified to be a dedicated unit. The chamber adapter was cut down and mated to a barrel. I want to determine if the CMMG kit is the same specs as I would like to order a spare kit.

If you have a CMMG dedicated unit, can you measure the internal diameter of the collar and see if it is .5" ?

CMMG collars have an ID of .460
You can get a CMMG collar opened up to .500 by Redtazdog

If Redtazdog has the barrel too, he can make a super fine fit for the collar. He did one for one of Clint Beyers Barrels
before it shipped to me and it's a super tight fit. It doesn't move at all when attached to the barrel and takes extra force
to separate for cleaning. It's the best fit I've ever seen..

Thanks for the responses.

Do either of you know if the 0.460 ID is standard among the various makers of dedicated uppers? I'm wondering if everybody has their own specs.

If all are the same I may looking at trimming down my barrel and getting a new collar. I prefer mine to match the "standard" if there is one. Makes life easier when getting spare parts, different barrels, etc.

Model 1 sales used to use .500 collar. When Spike's Tactical made their first generation 22 uppers they used a .500 collar and uppers modified by Rick Kuehl also used .500 collar unless the bolt mated directly to barrel. I think you can order a .500 collar from Model 1 sales. I've used the CMMG conversion bolt with a .500 Ciener collar.

Spike's still had .500 collars a few months ago. But you have to call them and talk to customer service - Sharron is very helpful.

Left: Kuehl/Ciener Right: Spike's with collar I ordered from them.
You can see the Kuehl has been through several thousand rounds. The Spike's set-up is shown newly assembled. (Spike's now has about 500+ rounds through it. Last 300 rounds - 1 FTE.)

I do still have some extra .500 ID collars but I think the better way to go is to get a new Stainless CMMG kit with the
.460 ID collar and have your barrel trimmed down to fit the kit.
With a cmmg kit you will have a system that you can find parts for repair if ever needed.
I like the cmmg collars the best as the feed ramp is bigger and taller so it blends good with the chamber.
The .500 ID collars work but the chamber entrance needs to be ramped a little to blend good with
the ramp on the collar for reliable feeding.

+1 on this - Rick Kuehl explained this was necessary when he made my upper. Ciener is said to have mentioned he would raise and/or change the angle of the feedramp on the conversion if he had a chance to redesign the unit.
That said - my Kuehl and put together Spikes uppers ran reliably - I think I've been lucky with all my various conversions - dedicated and drop-in.

YMMV
