Any info on LH parts? Friend is LH - doesn't mind shooting RH'd guns LH but I got him a Stag LH upper anyway.
OT - friend is retired ANG - said he never had trouble shooting LH with the old, beat-up 604s (or older M16s) in basic. |

I need a .22 AR cmmg upper with the FS loose and the gas block loose. I have an new un-fired CMGG .22 upper that I want to alter but I can't get the gas block to budge. I've tried a hot car trunk, heat gun and propane torch. The flash suppressor will not come off no matter how hard I clamp the barrel and wrench it.

I always recommend loosing them before shooting. Try slightly tightening, then loosen. It could have something to do with the Nitride coating. The FSB pins will pop out with a good hammer whack and a punch. The railed gas blocks are set screwed. Dave N |

I have removed my Sons flashider and it came of easily. We only have the Sierra model but it just has a clamp on gasblock so it removes easily. You may have one of their models that has a pinned front sight maybe? I do not know if they have a pinned model but thats the only explanation I can come up for as to not being able to remove it.. |

I still think it has to do with the WASP finish. CMMG swears they do not over torqued the FH.
The first one I had, I ended up calling to make sure it wasn't pinned. It's not. But they can be a bitch to get off. Don't try wrenching in off using a clam shell action block or you could damage the upper receiver. Use a barrel vise or at least leather in a bench vice. Dave N |

Dave N I remember when we went there. I used leateher tightly around the barrel. It felt like it was super glued when it broke loose then it turned off easily Dave S |

This may sound caveman like but when we removed my Sons to change his out I just laid the rifle on the carpet and put a open end wrench on the FH while putting my knees on the rifle and wacked the wrench with a big hammer and it came right off. The impact of a big hammer on a wrench will just about loosen anything

The impact of a big hammer on a wrench will just about loosen anything You just need to be aware that a steel barrel and steel pin twisting against the aluminum receiver slot can tweak the slot and cause your front sight (if an M4 LE with F front sight) to be off. I'm finally set to close in 10 days or so on property I've had for sale for over FIVE YEARS (!) and a dedicated .22 upper is a high priority on my "must have" list. (So is renewing my membership here!)
If you could email me the info too, I'd be most grateful: former11bravo@gmail.com Thanks a lot! |

Waiting on the left-hand uppers. It's on the CMMG site but still listed as: "Coming Soon".
Gotta add it to my collection of right-hand dedicated uppers and drop-in conversions. |

This is the model. I've had plans for this for ever. I need the FH to come off so I can slide the GB off.
Thanks for the hookup Shadow. Be on the lookout on the EE for my old upper! |
