THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT
My only experience with M1S was with a couple of their "complete kits" years ago, and it was all positive.

I know nothing about their rimfire uppers, thus this thread.

Does anyone here know which magazines these uppers use?

(I looked on their website but did not see an answer.)

Does anyone here have any experience with their rimfire uppers?

Thanks in advance for any info. If I don't get an answer I will just e-mail them directly re: he magazine question.

I believe their uppers use the CMMG/Spike's/Ciener-Atchinsson type .22 bolts.

They sell BDM mags on their website so I assume this is still correct.https://www.model1sales.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=category.display&category_id=539

If you order mags - make sure you get the right ones as they also sell mags for the M261 conversions.

I believe any mag made for a Ciener type conversion will work - CMMG, BDM, Ciener, etc.

YMMV

That's what I was hoping, but I wasn't sure.

I'll soon be assembling a rimfire AR with/for my son, and ones for his twin sisters just a couple of years later. I already have lowers, furniture, etc. set aside for them, and the plan is to start them out with rimfire uppers and then switch to centerfire uppers when they get older/bigger (still keeping the rimfires around for cheap plinking, of course).

I love my Spike's rimfires and would prefer that whatever we build for them use the same mags, if possible.

Been having a Model 1 .22 upper for a few years now. Seen here

Black Dog Mags work great and is what came with it. This one likes the CCI Ar22 tactical ammo, best. I have run a whole Black Dog drum of it without a problem. It also likes the Aguilla SS 60gr ammo, as well as other subsonic ammo. It hates Fed bulk packs and Remington bulk ammo.

Black Dog site actually states their mags work with Model 1 Sales.

I hate to read that –– both of my Spike's run Fed bulk without issue.

Never can tell - every upper and every rifle (not just AR-15 .22 conversions) - run best with different ammo. I like CCI MiniMag and Standard for consistency but different lots of Blazer and bulk ammo have run really well in some of my dedicated uppers. There are bad lots of ammo - I ran into a lot of Federal Auto Match that was absolutely horrible - gave most of it to a friend with a bolt gun. He said he got a bunch of misfires (FTF) with that particular box of ammo.

If you are building your own, get a CMMG barrel and BCG.
You already know they work. And CMMG has a Lifetime Warranty with outstanding customer service.

+1. Don't waste your time and money on other kits go CMMG and never look back.
