The AR15 hammer shown has the notch at the upper face of the hammer. The M16 hammer is rounded at the top with no notch. You can get a non-full-auto un-notched hammer from DPMS. Or you could modify an M16 hammer by removing the tail at the rear of the hammer. |

DPMS is the go to source for un-notched hammers.
My Bushmaster, RRA and Eagle Arms hammers are all notched. |

Hammers have come with notches to varying degrees. Some will work and some won't. I use a dummy round to test and see if the firing pin will bust the rim of a 22 hard enough to reliably fire. Then cycle the bolt completely to see if it's going to hang up on the hammer. Those are the 2 problems caused by notched hammers. Safest and most reliable thing to do is install an un-notched hammer with a matching trigger.

Some (or maybe all new) CMT/Stag LPK's have "no-notch" hammers, too.
I run a DPMS no-notch hammer in my current 9mm setup. "No-notch" hammer + ramped bolt = smooth as butta! |
