I'm looking to build an A2 dissy with a 16" rifle gas Criterion barrel and my local machine shop has quit installing FSB's and other work to focus on custom Glock slides.  Who does a reputable job of installing A2 FSB's anymore?  I have used ADCO before and wasn't personally impressed with the work.  To be fair, it was fully functional but not very aesthetically pleasing with several punch dings.

I recently used a Dez Tactical A2 FSB that is a clamp-on that looks very nice on the gun. So far it has been perfect for a couple hundred rounds on a 16" mid-length gassed barrel. They are currently on backorder, but for the price and the quality, they cannot be beat compared to the cost of a drill and pin FSB. ymmv.

+2 on John Thomas at Retro Arms Works.

I have a pinned flash hider done by him, and the weld job is very clean. It's actually hard to tell where it's welded. Very nice work.

How much plus the shipping does Retro Arms charge for FSB installation?

Also, would they install one for a "dissipator" configuration?

I do them myself.  I tap the hole under the rear lug of the sight with a 8/32 set screw, and then tap the side holes (If I  buy FSB that were previously used) or I drill 1/8" holes on new FSB's, and tap them with 6/32 set screws.  Once you get the sight leveled and centered using the bottom 8/32 set screw, I then put in the 6/32 screws on either side (front and back).  You have 5 screws holding the FSB in place. So far I have not had a FSB come loose.

You can also use the 8/32 tapping and set screw to set the FSB where you want and then drill the FSB and barrel for taper pins. I have done several either way and it doesn't seem to matter. The key to installing a FSB is getting it on the barrel without any canting. The use of set screws allows for infinite adjustment.  When I get it where I want then I follow up with blue loctite to keep the screws from backing out.

John Thomas @ Retro Arms Works. Quality work, quick turn around, reasonable price. Have it done correctly the first time with John.

Thanks guys!  Looks like my parts will be going to Retro Arms Works, his portfolio is definitely impressive and that 605 sealed the deal.

Add another +1 from me - I just sent my Green Mountain Barrel 20"
5.56x45 & BCM FSB off to him today. I am confident he will do
great work, and when I receive mine back from him I will follow
up with a post here. We talked on the phone for a bit, and I liked
what I heard.

$55.00 for taper pinning the FSB to the barrel is what he quoted me.

I too have to say that JT is the man. I sent him a prototype project barrel a couple years back. It consisted of turning down/threading  a carbine bbl, modifying the bayo lug and then modifying and grafting a 1960's era Beretta BM59 muzzle brake/fh combo to slip over the newly profiled bbl.

Thanks to this thread, I sent my Colt pre ban H BAR barrel to John to remove the FSB, swap out a new Colt barrel nut for the buggered one and put everything back together. I sent it to him last Saturday and I got it back today.

Ok, It is official from me now - - +1 on John Thomas @ Retro Arms Works !!! :)

Fit & finish are superb; From my trained eye I can tell that the FSB has been
mounted perfectly in line with the barrel extension indexing pin & where
the rear sight will be when the carry handle is mounted. Perfect work,
2 day turnaround, & excellent protective wrapping on the return shipping !!! :)

Wholeheartedly recommended by me, and I will not hesitate to use him again :)

Thanks John !!  S!
