Couldn't get it all in first post- PART 1

Lower nearly complete, launched the front takedown pin detent 3 times!

Yeah, I know there's a cheap tool, but I've always used the "Thin blade screwdriver and Damnit!" method.

And, we're done!

While Kitchen Table gunsmithing is fun, distractions (New Puppy, TV, Phone etc) can lead to easy mistakes. At least the cats left me alone mostly- until I started launching small shiny objects.

It's also a good idea to be completely sober.

Dang, I forgot just how good an A2 feels! The sight picture is just perfect for these aging eyes. And although I haven't weighed them, the A2 "Feels" no heavier than the fully dressed Mfourgery.

EDIT: @JJREA @backbencher - found it guys, 3 times!

Looks great!  But you seem to be missing a bayonet, a collapsible stock, & the forward rail system.

Very very nice.  I don't think it's missing a thing.  You can always tape a maglight to it for night ops.

I use a 1/4" Punch to install pivot pin. Before I bought a punch set, I used a 1/4" Drill bit. I put the punch in from the left side, and push it through the lugs up to the spring hole. I drop the spring and detent in push them down, while pushing on the punch. Then I just push the pivot pin through the right side pushing the punch out.

Just my way of doing it. I found it a lot safer/ easier to do, because I can point the receiver away from me while putting the pivot pin in.

I start by putting an old magazine in a bench vise so that the receiver would be muzzle up. I attach the received to magazine. Put a few drops of oil in the pivot pin detent hole, drop the spring in, hold the detent with needle nose pliers, push it in the hole, grab a strait razor and push down on the detent with the flat side of the razor as I back out the pliers, then grab the pivot pin and shove it in the hole over the razor, then slip the razor out. Bada Bing!
