So just got this in the mail today. Bought it off the ebay.
Hoping it will be accurate for my 727 clone.
What cought my eye was the ground out spot. That would make perfect sense if an Aimpoint 2000 where mounted on it.
And that's what I want to do.
The seller had no info.
It's all steel. There are machine marks down in the mount. And yes it has been cut off. Has a Brass thumbscrew.  
I'm hoping this is period correct and of some collectible valu.
So is it crap or a cool pice of military firearm history?

I have no idea about value, but it looks like it is a hacked Leatherwood mount.

Yup I think you guys are right.
I did some more specific searches useing Leatherwood and came up with an archived thread that describeds this mount.
It is an "older Leatherwood".
When I bought it I had no idea it was made of steel. This thing is heavy. Might not use it on my 727/BHD clone.
