I know I'm late to this party as these came back to the states years ago but I came across this cool gun and had to get it.

I love the wear patterns and the insides look almost new. Great truck gun with a cool story. American Spirit Arms A2 carbine with stainless M4 barrel.

I'm trying to figure out what sling set up the Ugandan contractors were using on these. Any ideas?

Interesting, all the Ugandans I seen had AK variants.

Looks like somebody was practicing their stroking technique on it and just wore down the Parkerizing.

Yes they painted the stainless barrel so those all seam to be worn away on the American Spirit Arms rifles.

The DPMS and Bushmaster versions were flat tops and had parked barrels.

Very neat origin. 16" barrel?

Yes a 16" barrel

My understanding is the contract called for WASR's AES-10b's DPMS Bushmaster and ASA semi auto guns to be sent over for security forces. The contract stipulated that they must be returned to the States.

Some of them came back with the property stickers still intact. I wish mine was one of them.

Cool. Wish I'd picked up one of those WASRs.

Jumbo, Asante Asante!  When I went over as a contractor two days after I retired I had a 72 ea 16" Double Stars AR15s attached to us with TA01NSN with Jpoints on top.  Ugandan guards in Iraq/Kuwait last two years had M4s/M4ergies with detachable carrying handles only.   Did have some Bushmaster XM15E1 (IIRC) select fire flat tops with 14.5" bbl but 1:9 twist attached to us from a alphabet agency to Group.

I should have bought one back when they were out, I regret not picking one up.

I love the look of a beat up rifle.  No need for a pristine exterior. I like functionality
