I am looking at a Colt 6520 Carbine.  I have several ARs and wonder if I should jump on this one.  It is an A2 style upper with a 16 inch barrel.   It is a ban era gun marked Restricted  Military/Government Law Enforcement/Export use only.  It is showing just a little storage/rack wear and does not  appear been shot much. Does anyone have any opinions/experiences with them and does $800.00 dollars seem like a fair price for one in todays market?  I can always use another rifle and I like the idea of owning one that I was not allowed to own during the dark ages of the Clinton Administration.  Thanks, Brian

What he said ^^^^  They're sweet, light-weight, no-nonsense carbines.

My department issues the 6520. I fuckin' love that little gun and plan to buy one when we change to 6720s.

The 6520's are fine carbines...and $800 is fair for a non-PD trade in.  I paid $600ish for mine a few years ago but it's a trade in.  Has some wear externally but internally it's nearly unfired.  They're great KISS carbines.  I'd jump on it unless you can live with an A3 upper.  You can also get a new 6720 for about that much and have a new rifle.  Up to you.  I have both and prefer the 6720 for the optics mounting options.

I bought it.

Looks great,  it has a Midwest Ind. rail on front sight,  It is not been shot much.  I can't wait to get to the range.

Looks like the recent PD turn in rifles with the MI rail. Some were Colt Canada marked while others weren't. Regardless, nice rifle!

awesome find. Im surprised you found one for only $800. Just look what these go for on gun broker. Does the seller have anymore for that price?
That lower alone someone will pay close to what you paid for the whole rifle.
I had a 6520/restricted a couple years ago and sold it for only $1100. Wish I never did.

A little further update,  I bought this from an individual who picked it up from the gun dealer when the Bowling Green, KY Police Dept. traded them in and got new patrol rifles. He has had it for a few years.  I plan on keeping it in this configuration and enjoying it for a while.

Did it come with any mags?

A wise decision, IMO.  These are greatly enjoyed as a light carbine platform.

It came with 2 Colt 20 rounders but they are marked several years apart so probably not original to the rifle.

Just bought that exact rifle for $650 out the door.  Local police trade.  I love those things!  Makes me feel like a little kid shooting my dads patrol rifle for the first time!

Very nice purchase. Personally, I am waiting for a Colt AR6320 that I recently bought. It is scheduled to arrive at my FFL tomorrow.
