VERY COOL.  First time I've seen someone clone this gun.  You da man.  In my estimation, that's probably one of the funnest set ups to shoot.

Short of a grey charging handle and a rubber band this one is finished:
I forgot to take something besides a pmag for the picture.

It's my attempt at cloning this gun:

Thanks! I shot it for the first time yesterday. It's definitely more of a "heads up" position on the gun and I feels pretty natural. The one issue I had was that the ACOG is a little farther back than I'm used to and was interacting with the bill of my hat or my glasses. It's a really fun gun to shoot though.

hell yeah on the range report, sadly, I still haven't gotten out to shoot mine yet. Fired a few in the yard and it seems like its on point (with irons). Have changed the appearance since the last time I posted here in this topic...more BHD i guess. Thanks for the range report. Glad to see someone can get out there and shoot

thanks boss. Sorry to sneak in the MK18, that was the only current 727 pic I had. Both sticks are nice shooters.

I looked at the pic you used for your inspiration after you said something about banging your noggin, and it looks like his scope is almost contacting the lense on his safety glasses.  LOL.  I guess that could get annoying.  And a carbine usually jumps a bit more than a rifle, so.....  it seems like he'd be banging away at his goggles too.  If he actually had to shoot it like that.

I have to admit, when I shoot my M4gery with that scope on the carry handle, sometimes the charging handle bangs my lip a little.  Not enough to hurt though.  But it is kind of annoying.  Give me a kiss......  boom

Nope I still got it.  I used the upper receiver for a recce build.  I'm about to swap that upper for a different one and put the expanse back together.

A pic for the thread (NOT MINE)

The PSA EPT trigger groups are pretty sweet for a service trigger.
http://palmettostatearmory.com/psa-ar15-pa10-enhanced-polished-trigger.html.
They currently have a lower parts kit with the enhanced trigger group on sale with free shipping.

You could use the EPT trigger and sell off the rest of the parts.

What triggers is everyone running?

That hard gritty trigger pull is part of the experience, and the sad truth of cloning is even current models have obsolete features.  My A2 clone is my only AR that still has a "GI" (although in semi-only) trigger.  Since I now have a parts bin full of GI triggers my next project is to put the "best" trigger in the A2.

Update - I bought a Geiselle ACT for $44.85 shipped during ALG's Black Friday sale.  It's my third Geiselle trigger, and is everything I would expect from that company.

I didn't know they made a trigger that cheap.  Is it a single stage?  I need a new trigger for one of my lowers.....

Yes, basically a refined mil-spec.  With the stock hammer spring it's about a 6 lb. pull, and you also get a 4.5 lb hammer spring (I'm using the 4.5 lb).  The only downside for using it with a clone is the steel is teflon impregnated which gives it a bright grey coloring.  A Birchwood Casey blue pen might solve that-haven't tried that myself yet.
