Yep, I used one on my A1 build......I even contemplated buying another one and sending it to ADCO to have the "izzy" FH removed, and a A2 FH pinned and welded. By the time all is said and done, I'd have over 200 bucks into it.

What you described is almost identical to my 727 build. I'm using a McKay A2 lower and I really like it. I also have the same Windham barrel that you linked. It's a great barrel and good shooter. My only complaint about the barrel is that the pinned Windham extended A2 flash hider is a little longer then it needs to be. I have a BCM A2X on my Colt and the Windham version is noticeably longer.
If this is the upper your buying it's not going to match the McKay lowers if that bother you. NDS sells gray A2 lowers though if you want something that matches.

Opinions on if I went with this barrel:

Not a 14.5 (dealbreaker?), and 1/9 instead of 1/7. I shoot 55 gr. only anyway, so that isn't big a con for me. Just mulling over some options. Anyone have experience with this exact barrel? |

My 2 all Colt clones. My favorite AR configuration. You would be superised how different it feels with the skinny handguards. |
