This was the first Colt that looked anything like a "real" A2.  The H-BAR scared me off back in the late '80s.  The Gov't Model 6550 got you a much lighter barrel, and was supposed to be equipped with an A2 lower forging.  It didn't happen, and the first Colt with the A2 lower would be the 6520 Carbine.  I got a 6550 anyway, and used it for a year until the lower drove me nuts.   Replaced it with an Eagle A2 forged job, and later sold the weapon.   The H-BAR showed up on the Bushie version of that A2 rifle, but you could get the barrel with full fluting for a massive weight reduction.  Bingo ! !   Your Early A2 H-BAR will excite the Pony collectors 4 sure !
