Dayum that's sum good wood!  I've always liked the satin wood finish a-la the M14.  But I've never even considered building a "woodie" until now

Yeah tell me about it. I normally have zero love for on an ar it just looks goofy but this one made my pants a little tight. I'm jealous.

I keep coming back to this thread to look at your AR with the IWD Wood Furniture, because it just looks beautiful !!

But, I do have to ask, why you didn't go with the IWD A2 round Handguards?  Unless you just like the triangular handguards better.  The Triangular would be my choice too.

Regardless, your A2 looks amazing.  If you feel the need to ditch the wood, IM me and I'll be happy to take them off your hands.

Also, are you going to post a range report soon?

Holy crap that is gorgeous! I'm not really an A2 or heavy profile barrel guy either but that is absolutely phenomenal.

Thanks for the kind words guys, I am kicking around the idea of doing a wood M4gery w/ optics if I do another AR build. However, the way it is shaping up in my head... it would be a lot of work.

Nicely done!
It looks like the Ironwood furniture.
I went with the Precision set. The Ironwood stuff was almost twice as much and I would have hated to scratch it!

OK Hellbent_4,  you know that statements like that require that you must post some pic's of your Woody AR.

Also, I was thinking about the Precision Set myself, so I'd really like to see it.

Here's the Precision set on both a 16" dissy and 20" Govt barrel.  I'm pretty sure it's the same set Brownell's sells.
The main differences are the hand guard and quality of wood. Ironwood makes works of art.
Also note the grip and the dual Monte Carlo style stock. (both sides)
The Precision set uses either laminated or fine grain wood. (Walnut in this case) Ironwood uses beautifully figured wood.
Mine is the satin finish, oil rubbed is available.
Personally, I think it looks great on the Dissy.  It does add about a pound over the plastic and with the HBAR on the Dissy it makes for a VERY stable shooting platform. Especially with a scope.

Hellbent_4, Thank you for posting those pic's of your Woody AR's.  They look really nice, and you can definitely see the difference between the Ironwood and the Precision

sets of wood Stock Sets.  I was sort of hoping that you had a set of the Laminated Precision Stock's, but I guess you don't.  This decision is going to be a tough one.

I think it comes down to a question of usage.
Do you want something you aren't going to worry about dinging up? If so, Precision.
I don't think I would be able to use the Ironwood, it's just too damn pretty! I would hate to scratch it.
The figured woods that they use are just beautiful.
