Rifle is all Colt, minus the lower receiver/LPK which is a NoDak Spud NDS-A1 lower receiver.

Colt "C M" markings on the upper:

http://i1239.photobucket.com/albums/ff502/augeekim/DC310223-65CB-419B-AA2D-D8860E6DEADA-12171-00000B4E5F494165_zps06ff297d.jpg

It's hard to see here, but the proper barrel markings:

http://i1239.photobucket.com/albums/ff502/augeekim/0E6565D1-362C-403B-9CD5-BE9D2DA1C666-12171-00000B4E641A131B_zpsc0fcd334.jpg

Also visible, and much more clearly is the totally, heinously, and terribly wrong crush washer that I need to replace with a peel washer.  Please accept my apologies.

The sling is a standard USGI silent sling installed with a USGI top sling adapter, using the wire loop for the FSB and the strap for the stock.  I'm considering replacing the stock adapter with the simpler, more common, and frankly, more functional 550 cord and 100MPH tape "adapter."

Front loop:

http://i1239.photobucket.com/albums/ff502/augeekim/1EC26A05-A2A4-407E-93D3-706A2499AC97-12171-00000B4E7680D54B_zps61eed52e.jpg

Stock adapter, also visible is the blue paint pen rack number, "132":

http://i1239.photobucket.com/albums/ff502/augeekim/126BFCF8-FB83-4A94-B7A6-AB6C9E177056-12171-00000B4E70E84E8B_zps520c1aa1.jpg

I eventually would like to have Ident or someone similar engrave the NDS-A1 lower receiver as an early Colt M16A1, marked both "AR15" and "M16A1," then use a stamp kit and overstamp the "1" in "M16A1" with a crooked "2," and "X" out the "AUTO" marking and stamp "BURST" as well as engraving the right side selector markings, and stamp "A N A D" rebuild markings on the right side of the mag well so the whole rifle will look like an Army rebuild.

The only other change to be made besides the peel washer is to find an ANAD rebuild-style selector/safety with the raised "notch" to install in place of the Colt "no tick" selector that's currently installed.

She may be old-school, but she's still a great rifle and a lot of fun to shoot, and I still break in beginners on her, and she gets fired more than my M16A4 and XM16E1 clone combined, and is my current "iron sights trainer" mule that I shoot with when I want to return to the basics and fundamentals and shoot open sights, which I cycle through my training routines.  Run and gun and drills are all well and good, but it's important to return to the fundamentals once in a while, and the A2 is usually what I do it with!

I regret not getting more detailed photos of the whole rig, but I spose this is better than nothing.  Kuwait 06-07 (which i don't count as a deployment ), tons of mutts in the armory.  Got a hankerin to clone this one.

And if the shithead FFLs in this worthless state didn't charge $50-75 per non-NFA firearm for a transfer fee I'd jump on 'em big time.

NDS (which is who makes the brownells lowers) has 80s for it though.

I used to work for the Public Affairs Office at Camp Shelby JFTC in Mississippi, from 2006 - 2013, which is where I took all of the following. I haven't got access to my CD collection, so there are thousands more images I haven't had a chance to go through yet. All of these images are from the 2006-2008 time frame.

Enjoy!

Love all the A2's with optics!

You should post the A4 pictures over here, they don't have enough of them with aimpoints.

Don't remember if I posted this M16A2 that I used in Balad Iraq 05-06'.  My rifle rack behind my desk.  We had a 485 yd KD range on our compound where I used the A2 to get ready for the All Army Match at Ft Benning when I returned in 06'.  Ammo in magazine is Mk262.

That's the most likely reason.

Doesn't seem to matter, nobody liked the "burst" setting, anyway.

The M4A1s that we got in Texas a couple of years ago are a much better option. We got to play around with them after they were converted to M4A1 configuration, and it was a revolution in our affairs.

I'm seriously considering a clone build of the Anniston rebuild in this photo. I like the mix and match of black and grey components.

I'm actually collecting up parts to build clones of every rifle I was issued over the last 16 years. Two M4 carbines, two M16A2s and an M4A1, plus an Aero Precision 10.5" carbine from my DOS contract training cycle.

It'll be a fun project to complete them all.

Guard still does it. Ran across the FLNG during Hurricane Irma and they had then installed alongnwith being issued 10rds of ammo only and having tape over their magazine feed lips to prevent proper insertion into the rifle.

Glad you enjoyed them!

I have many thousands more photos saved on CDs, all from the "glory days" of GWOT mobilization at Camp Shelby. I've got pics of units from every branch and all corners of the country.

I might very well be the only person on the planet with this photo collection, as all the hard drives, CDs, floppies and hard copy prints disappeared after we closed down the PAO shop in 2013. I don't have any idea what happened to all that stuff, which is why I went through and copied every file, every photo and scavenged up all the old hard copy stuff I could find before we shut down.

I thought about offering the stuff up to the Armed Forces Museum on Camp Shelby, but I doubt this stuff would ever see the light of day again.

I might try contacting the Army Center for Military History and see if they'd be interested.

Walking through the pouring rain to go take a shower in the latrines.

The box fans 550 corded to all the bunks.

Saw some hoss sized rattlers every so often, too.
