THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT
Delton Mid-length barrel, HG's by Jhud, Generic upper, YHM B/C, Areo Precision Lower, Spikes LPK, ALG conbat trigger and UTG stock.

The look is classic - especially with the bayonet.

Nice set up, but I don't think the A2 style upper you have there came about until the 1980s.

You also have the wrong pistol grip. There is a retro section here on Arf you can consult.

You would need an M16 or M16A1 upper to clone a Vietnam era rifle.

Nice little carbine. As mentioned, if you're looking to do a retro, check into the retro forum.

You can make a really nice mid-length "what-if" A1-style blaster.

The Dutch experimented with a mid-length AR10 carbine back in the early 1960's, and there are US examples of a mid-length carbine from the same era in Reed Knight's collection.

It would have made a great service carbine for Infantry, plus other mounted or dismounted units.

Thanks. I wasn't going for an authentic replica...just something with the Vietnam look.

That mid-length hand guard looks incredible on that rifle. I am a bit biased tho.. .... I bet there are some that didn't even realize it's a middy!!

Jhud does nice work on the hand guards, I did a 652 midlength & it leaves guys scratching their heads.
Full length stock on a carbine feels really good in the hands.

Dang, I want a set of those handguards for a retro build I'm planning with a NoDak 601 lower, 604 upper, and 4 position stock.

I agree, not much VeitNam about it

But I like it very much. Good job on the build!

While not a clone, as otherwise noted and you stated was not your intent, I very much like your rifle. I've considered doing that exact build as I thought it would be a neat setup, and I can see it is

For some reason, the A2 stock on a mid-length upper makes the AR15 look so well proportioned and balanced versus on a 20".

I really like the look of you rifle!

Very nice, I put together something similar for my step-son, who is a USMC Veteran.

I also built a retro-ish mid length AR a while back.

I like those better than the set I got from NDS, they look a little beefier which give the carbine/rifle a better look. imho

Warhawk did you do the machine work or was this out sourced?
Either way it really turned out amazing.

I like the looks of the mid-length guard. I may have to build one. I have a rifle length and carbine length.
