Some guns are HARD.

Make sure you have a solid rest and a solid base to be beating the pins on. I've had some I just called it quits on after beating the ever living fuck out of. You may need someone to hold the upper. Even using blocks, heavy hammers, and good punches I have had some that would not give. Even took a torch to some of the stubborn ones. 99% will take the beating and give, but I've had a few that wouldn't surrender. I'm talking 20 + different rifles.
KEEP means it's mine and you can't have it.

I know the pins are tapered to come out the right side so I've been wacking on the left side. Any ideas on the flash compensator?

Soak in some of this, then try again.

Flash hider may be pinned and/or welded. In that case, you'll need to drill out the pin/weld. For the sight base, use a torch, a good support underneath, and a steel punch. Yes, there is a risk of slipping and scratching something with the steel punch but it will transfer more energy than a brass punch. I had to do this on one of my sight bases a while back.
