Lookin' good, C-C! Why is it on a NoDak lower receiver, though?

I originally wanted to do a retro build before I was interested in high power. I bought that lower two weeks before the ATF rule change that made it illegal to sell lowers to people under 21. I will probably leave it as is. I don't want to have to fiddle with the geissele trigger again (took me awhile to set it up to my liking) and so far no one has had any issues with the SP1 style lower at the various high power matches I've been to.

ETA: I just bought that leather creedmoor coat for $75. Got one hell of a deal, and that about completes my high power purchases. The only thing I really need to be competitive is a good spotting scope, which will be my final big purchase. That'll be awhile. I still need to work on finding the best positions before I tackle wind reading. Dry fire practice with this new coat is extremely promising.

It'll be getting a BattleComp when that arrives, but the birthing happened today.

What type of upper is that?  I didn't know anyone made an A2 without the case deflector and FA.
Awesome,
Ralph

It's an RRA 9mm upper receiver with a hole drilled for the gas tube.

Finally posting my A2 pics.  Built it about a year ago.  Colt A2 (M4) upper and an FN A2 replacement barrel.  Lower is an Essential Arms with a RRA 2 stage trigger.  This lower doubles as my Varmint gun with another upper.

[Sorry for the crappy pics]

My second firearm owned and my first AR-15. Put together for just under $600.

-RGuns blem lower, tan anodized
-Used Bushmaster pre-ban HBAR dissy upper
-No-name 4-pos CAR stock
-Palmetto 'classic' LPK

Hopefully she won't stay 16" too long. I think the first upgrade she'll get is a GM 20" lightweight barrel.

I love ARs.

Again, sorry for the crappy pics.

I was thinking a new A2 might put a smile on some faces!

Del-Ton lightweight 20" upper with MOE Handguards and A2 flash hider.
PSA lower, PSA parts kit, A2 Buttstock.

Major props to Del-Ton. This is the second upper I have ordered from them, and both times the sales staff has been quick to help and ship my new toys. The first took six days from order to delivery, the second only seven. They really were on their game and as a shooter, I appreciate that! The first rifle I did with them is described below.

The other is the wife's Del-Ton Gov't Profile 20" upper (going to replace FF tube with OD MOE hand guards)
PSA lower, PSA parts kit, MOE grip (so much better than A2 grip!), MOE Buttstock, Leapers UTG SWAT 3-12x44 optics ( this scope is worth 4x it's price!, it is zoo good).

Obligatory mags are mostly Pmags with three aluminum 30's for good measure.

Can't wait to train for 3 Gun with my new A2!

Two new A2 builds... Both are on Armalite, not Eagle Arms lowers with Spikes Tactical LPK's and Spikes Tactical M16 BCG's.  A2 upper receivers are Bushmaster, barrels are both Bushmaster Gov't profile barrels, a 1/9 and a 1/7 on the scoped 'delta'.  The 'old skool' delta setup has a Leupold Mark AR 3-9 x 40 scope with an ARMS #2 and Warne rings, the cheekpiece is an original from the mid-90's from Cherokee.

Mine has gone through a few stages:

The previous two have goofy looking lower configurations as it was being used as a .50BMG lower as well.

This is the current configuration:

The stock will be swapped at some point, but it'll otherwise stay the same.

[Last Edit: DarkStar] [#31]

Finished the 5 ArmaLite marked lowers I picked up in June... Bushmaster barrels, the 20" barrels are Gov't profile, A2 uppers are Bushmaster, Colt, and LAR.  Spikes LPK's and M16 BCG's.  The scoped 20" uses an ARMS #2, an original Cherokee cheekpiece and a Leupold Mark AR scope.  The 16" Superlite and M4 profile builds are LIGHT... wow... KISS A2's...

It has taken me months of haunting the EE to get all Colt parts but I finally finished my carbine. Barrel off a 6721, Colt A2 upper receiver. Colt LE Carbine lower. All the various parts from different folks. Thanks to all I bought from here for the smooth transactions. The added bonus of building it all myself, all good. Total cost=$753.85

The point of my exercise was to build a carbine for less than $800 from parts and assemble each part to learn how the rifle functions. Spent many days at the range firing friends and coworkers weapons so I tried everything from HBAR's to M4 profile to pencil barreled carbines. 10 inch to 16 inch barrels. Fat hand guards, rails, skinnies, A1's, A2's flattops with optics and BUIS. I have Colt A2 rifle and like the quality so I decided to attempt to build a Coltenstein for my $800 budget.

Some of the parts were barely used, most were take offs from folks changing out parts off brand new rifles. I didn't jump at the first part I saw, but waited until they fit in my budget. I waited 5 months for a lower at the right price. My only concession to aftermarket parts are a Magpul trigger guard(came on the lower, and I removed a Bill Springfield trigger group and replaced it with a Colt group) and a BCM charging handle.

I was lucky getting the upper(Colt Mueller Brass) that had a 4 stamped on it and M4 cuts from the factory so the 6721 barrel works great. I chose the HBAR profile for that smidge of better accuracy. I had the upper on a Double Star lower and fired a couple thousand trouble free rounds of LC M855 the last 5 months until the Colt lower appeared last week.

So now I need to figure out what to build with the Double Star lower... which by the way, is not quite in spec. It has issues with certain mags dropping free but other than that, was fine.

Finally wised up and bulit an A2

It's been a while since I decided the 20" rifle setup was the best bet for a defense/SHTF gun, as well as having fun, and target shooting. I built a couple uppers off the FNMI A2 barrels, my first being on a flattop upper with a recce style rail, next was on a Colt A1 upper. Each had their drawbacks.

I think I've finally found my solution in the A2 platform, and I just finished her the other day:

FNMI 1:7 A2 barrel (brand spanking new, I don't think this thing was even fired)
FN A2 upper (NOS, unfired, with FN sight, and BCM upper parts kit)
FN bolt (used)
Toolcraft bolt carrier (NOS) (I know...I need an FN carrier!)
Daniel Defense Lite 12.0
Surefire M951

Lower is a Noveske with a CMT LPK, round hammer
A1 storage stock with A2 buttplate/door

I can't wait to snag some M885 and take this sucker out. The FSB is perfect on it, my laser bore zero had me two clicks to the left. TWO!

I can run a smaller Gunfighter as there're no carry handle screws sticking out, so I don't get gouged in the chest.
I have an 800 meter sight.
I can run the RIBZ type zero easier than the 600m A4 sight.

This gun is a WIN. For a platform where I want to exclusively run iron sights, and make it work as both a SHTF and fun rifle––I'm very happy, and I don't have a lot of money tied up into it.

LOVE the A2

I like that.  Very nice for an adaptable modern rifle but designed for dedicated iron sights use using quality parts.  Not a clone but purpose built with a clear idea in your head of what you wanted.

Great 20" setup.

latest build

rguns lower
rguns stainless lpk
blackthorne m4 a2 upper
rock river arms bolt carrier group
dpms charging handle

Nothing fancy, inexpensive build for plinking and throwing lead. Has been very reliable with no issues, having fun with it.

This is my carbine I just completed. With the exception of three parts(trigger guard, BCM charging handle and A2X flash hider), it's all Colt. Just finished pinning and welding the FH this morning. 6920 lower, A2 Colt upper with M4 cuts. Colt 14.5 M4 barrel(I had a Colt 6721 barrel on it until today)Test fire and sight in tomorrow. Yum Yum.
