So its pretty much buy their whole upper or you are not getting one.

You could build a regular upper with an AA piston kit and try this:

Do they make a piton system that will fit under a standard hand guard?
I have my match bolt for the barrel. Just was a piston/carrier that will fit under a normal handguard.
