I'm trying to put together a retro build and wanted to use a piston system. It's been several years since I looked at retrofit piston kits.

Last time I considered one, Ares was making the GXR which it looks like they discontinued. Are there any other kits that work with an A1 front sight?

Ares Defense may still manufacturer one as well.

Osprey is the best choice. The snout piece is the low profile piece.
I am not sure what is your plan: free float handguard hardware or standard barrel nut.
If standard is use, then you need grind down the groove to allow the op rod freely slide.

Best of luck.

I need to call them. Wonder how much for the kit.
Got their system over 7 years. Still going strong.

UPDATE - Just gave them a call and the GXR gas piston kit is still available.  The lady I spoke with quoted the current retail price of $399.00.  Spare parts for the kits are also available.

@Russ4777  I spent time with one (nothing even remotely dynamic) and it was solid and reliable.

While not exact an A1 front post, there is this aftermarket clamp-on A1'eque sight.
