KAC isn't piston.

I think your choices are:

LWRC - Solid
PWS Mk2 Series - Solid
Adams Arms - New, unknown but probably good and on the GII platform
Ruger SR762 - Solid
Sig 716 - Solid
POF - Hit or miss.... Some people love them and others have had problems.  All I know about them is threads on here.
Hogan - Seem to have a good reputation.  Pretty much same type of design as POF.

I'm sure there are others.

I love my Sig 716. great gun and shoots well. Only thing i don't like about it is the rail. its a short quad rail and leaves very little space for bipod or light. If i were to buy a semi auto .308 I would buy the PWS.
I have the PWS 5.56 and love it, never fired a .308 PWS but i have to believe they are awesome.
My friend has a LWRC REPR and its amazing, but i just can't justify the price for my activities.

My Sig with SDN6

My POF works perfect with good ammo almost with reloads. It does deserve a better scope...one of these days.

I'd add the LMT MWSE or the slick side LMT MWS

Don't believe the LMT is piston.

I had a Sig 716. I now use a Ruger 762. Both very good rifles. Plenty accurate for deer and hogs, but I like the Ruger handgaurd better and also the midlength gas system.

They are great guns, but they are expensive and so in my opinion not worth the extra money. I also don't like the short rail on them and so you'd probably want to buy an aftermarket rail (expensive).

Decide what you want to mount on your rifle and how far you want to mount it from the mag well, then go look at these rifles because you will see that there's not much room on some of them.

If I were to buy one .308 piston gun right now it would be the PWS.

Scar 17 is still far cheaper than a LWRC Repr, even with an after market trigger. If shoots just as well if not better.

But agree if I were in the market for a .308 piston ar PWS would be at the top. They make some quality rifles.

I agree with this.  The SIG and Ruger are both "best buys" in the piston AR-10 market with styles and features that make both rifles appealing.

The main complaint for me with the SIG is the weight but that's somewhat the nature of the beast when dealing with AR-10's in general.  I am also not a big fan of the carbine-length forend but that is overcome easily enough by using a Lancer carbon fiber forend.

I have a 716 and really like it. Interested to see the lighter version as it is a bit of a pig.

Lots of European military and police units use HK MR 762 (HK 417) rifles since they can get them across the EU without having to pay US export/Euro import fees and taxes.

Looks like Sig has gone the same route as the GII, with an elongated AR15 receiver from the trigger guard forward.

Definitely check out Handl Defense's new stuff from shot if you're considering a scar17, they look great (full carbon fiber extended handguard + pmag compatible aluminum lower, improved stock and hinge).

Will a PWS upper work on a DPMS .308 lower?
Link Posted: 1/27/2015 9:10:01 PM EDT
[#24]
yes.

Also, when buying a modern rifle make sure you think about rail space and what you want to mount. Most modern rifles (colt, LWRC, PWS, AA...) are going to work fine,  but where PWS and LWRC take the cake for me is the rail space. I never shoot my SCAR because i just don't like the way i have to hold it to shoot it. Its the other reason I don't like my Sig 716.
If I were to get a .308 I would get a PWS or LWRC. I really like PWS gas system.

Can you provide some ARAK-31 porn / photos?  Comparison internal part sizes to original ARAK?  Photo of bolt?

We're on the next generation of prototypes. Nothing to show for a bit while its back in skunk-works.

It'll be worth it, though!

Probably been asked a hundred times but what is the eta on being able to get one of these?

Also do you have any dealers of your products in the area around Reno Nevada. I really like the design of these rifles but I have never had a chance to look at one in person.

To be on topic, what's the upper/lower pattern? Also, will you be sticking to just one pattern?

ETA is Q2. Dealer list is on our website (too many to track, now!)

Also, your favorite dealer is welcome to contact us. We do not have minimums and love working direct.

DPMS-pattern only for the time being. Primary reason is how our carrier is set up with the square does not play nicely with the angle-cut receivers.

If they work nicely with aero precision 308 lowers I think this just might become my long considered 308 rifle.

Well, once reviews come in of course. I am not an early adopter. I also have an odd ability to induce malfunctions in mechanical devices without really trying. Friends have handed me guns and they usually start malfunctioning.

I am also looking at an ARAK31 upper. After shooting a friends ARAK21, what can you do but fall in love with it? I have never shoot a smoother AR-type rifle. I am saving to make my next upper an ARAK. If the Faxon Firearms guy is reading this.......what is the chance of seeing an 18 inch barrel on a 5.56 ARAK21 upper? That would be the cherry on top for sure!

Well I must admit that I was very impressed with the beat down that vigilant specter gave one of your rifles. Hard to imagine many guns surviving that kind of a savaging.

I don't treat weapons like that, just for the record.
