I bought a few of the $249 Adams Arms piston kits that also came with the free barrel.  I am very happy and suppressed with the quality of the kit but also the Voodoo barrel.  Anyways in telling my boss about the deal he said he needed an upper for a lower he has.  I told him I could build him one for around $430 or so based on prices I have seen.  I bought all the parts from midway and ebay.  I assembled them and when I went to the last step to install the hand-guards, which I has bought on ebay for $40 I realized the hand-guard that whey were only machined for the gas tube clearance.  Abandoning this I went to my parts box and grabbed a set of Colt M-4 hand-guards, boom, the aluminum liner is the same, only allowing clearance for for the gas tube.

So I need a set of RIS/RAS 1913 railed hand-guards that work with the delta ring/hand-guard cap (this is an Adams Arms one with the piston clearance)  as I already have them installed and only want to ditch them and take the barrel off to put on a free float as a last resort.  So what cheap hand-guard and where can I get it as my budget is already blown?  If I cant find on that is delta ring/cap ready what free float options do I have?

On a side not I bought 2 more kits for myself, I haven't built them yet so I can go free float or delta ring set up.  One is a 11.5" for a registered SBR and the other is a 16" for a semi.  I was thinking Delta Ring with a Knights RAS but I would love to hear or see what your set up is?  Especially with the 11.5" set up I would like to have a rail covering the gas block, who makes a hand-guard with enough clearance?

Magpul MOE's are made to clear piston systems. They will work with the AA system with no issues (I run them on both of my AA rifles).

These, or you can get a used set of MI drop in rails. Use a ball end bit and machine out the required depth, like i did.

Yeah, I ordered a set of the new MOE SL handguards earlier
They will clear your piston.

ETA: Old MOE with a piston, new MOE SL has a similar heat shield.

budget is a piece of wood and a drill, look at the Samson EVO for an affordable and actually useable option imo

I am in the process of doing a SBR and have a like new tactical EVO 7-ex available for $125.  Retails at AA for $185.
It rode the rifle for less than 500 rounds.
email me if interested.

I also have the AA plastic hand guards that came with the carbine kit that i bought from AA $45.00 shipped.

Did you know that you can modify the standard had guards with a file or dremil to accomadate the op rod?

Got them in, plenty of room for a piston in there.
(ignore the front sight)

Why would the Magpul's not be an affordable, useable option?
They hold up equally as well to abuse and heat provided you're not firing something with sustained fire.
Lighter than aluminum and they come with rail segments that can be installed in the slots.

Moe is what I run too, did your kit not come with the plastic handguards? If not shoot me a pm, I've got a set that came with my AA upper. We can work something out on the cheap.

Picked up a Samson here for a standard build - very nice rail, keymod, easy to install and uses a standard barrel nut. Costs more than plastic.
Use a SL for the AA - see my post in the AA Industry forum - tight on the railed gas block but should be fine on the XLP.
