THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT
New guy here so be patient as I am learning about AR15s in general.
The following link goes to a local regional chain store. http://www.fleetfarm.com/catalog/sub_sub_category/hunting/firearms/tactical;jsessionid=134EBD157C386D986531400D18CCBA06

So what do people think of the ars listed - the good, bad, ugly?

Specifically, what do you think of the salt nitride meloniting vs. hard chrome, etc. Any other thoughts? Price?

From what I was told, Fleet Farm has a 1 year contract with this company before they can be sold in other stores (this is what I was told).
Thanks!

That Tactical TVO looks like a bargain at $1300.00.

I would prefer the TVO over the tactical but for less money it is even better. Don't see $2K in the X-P1

the basic model at $950.00 is also a good deal but I prefer the nicer TVO and believe the extra $ is well worth it

Well, nobody is really chiming in but wulf. I was hoping that there would be feedback about the meloniting process, etc., too. I did google the meloniting process and was pretty impressed. Come on guys, chime in.

They are great rifles for the price and it is just as accurate as my DI gun. The melonite treatment is awesome! It makes the metal slick and easy to clean. I believe it is harder then hard chrome and also scratch free? Huldra has some of the best customer services I've seen (Dave & Susan).

Alright, now we are talking. I am also pretty impressed with the HK416 but not with the price. I wonder what it would cost to build an ar with the huldra upper. A low end cost that is. Possibly come out about the same price or cheaper than the evo tactical listed at $1300.

Depends on what you want. A standard mid-length complete upper is around $600, sometimes it'll be on sale for $550, add a complete lower $200-$250 and you got a reliable and accurate piston AR for under $1,000. I should also add that melonite treatment is VERY corrosion resistance.

I watched the video and read the other link. Pretty impressive I would say. I am the type who has to have my firearms clean and cannot stand rust. Knowing that the cheap ammo may or is corrosive would make me feel better with the melonite.
What manufacturers use this type of rust protection? I'm liking the evo more and more. Would like to get a verticle grip and possibly a spring loaded bi-pod too. I seen it on youtube but cannot remember who sells them or the cost.

How about entry level scopes. I was thinking of a decent nikon for hunting and then of course I would use this for coyotes too. This way I could get rid of my .17hmr, although I have picked off crows at 200 yds. with it in the winter fields. All I have to do is drop the double hung window down and put the cross hairs eye level above the back and there she flops.

The Huldras are basically Adams Arms rifles.
AA manufactures these rifles for Huldra.
Adams Arms makes very good stuff.

But what advantage is there to doing that when you can get the complete basic for $950.00 and save the work?

These are in the price range of Sig 516s which is IMO a superior product.

I really like my Huldra base middy. After a 300 round "break-in" period, it operates flawlessly and completely lives up to its 1 MOA guarantee...it also has a GREAT warranty! Huldra and AA both have great customer service. The break in period basically happens because the rifles are very tight when new, once they loosen up a bit they run excellent. Mine also runs steel cased ammo of any brand 100%, though they do not reccomend it. Be careful which front site BUIS you choose, a magpul will not work on the block...you must choose one appropriate for the high profile gas block. Fit and finish is excellent. PMAGS work best for me. The whole reason I bought this rifle is for use with cheap Russian ammo, in horrible shitty winter weather, where it MUST be 100 % reliable after being frozen in the trunk of a car for a month. I think it will work. It is EASY to clean. Easy! It is very simple and there is little that can go wrong on it, as it is based on the SIG 550 system to begin with, basically a copy, and you will find it the most copied and licensed copied system out there for good reason.

So far great guns! I picked up a base carbine and a mid-length upper. They both shoot great, seem like less recoil and cleaning is very easy.Tight groups, a little front heavy. I have both DI and now piston systems, I am sold on the piston system. They run cooler, cleaner, and mine are very accurate with-in 300 meters. Customer service is great (Susan and Dave).

For the price you should give them a try!

Thanks for the feedback guys, to the OP, as you have read we try to have the best customer service in the business. If you need anything please dont hesitate to give us a call. As posted, the Tac Evo, Tac Elite, and Xpre are some of our offerings. I think if you shop around you would be hard pressed to find a better, more featured, piston rifle for the price. I know some say the Xpre is priced high, but look at our competition and see what a monolithic rifle goes for, also keep in mind the mega monos are not cheap and truly a quality piece of work, add to that the stainless barrel, JP trigger and the list goes on and on.

Bottom line, dont hesitate to contact us, we are happy to help, get you any information or answer any questions. On top of that we dont go anywhere afterwards either, we take care of our customers and want them to be satisfied.

Thanks for the interst. Please check out our industry section here to for more info.

I love my Huldra tac elite. It's my first ar so I have nothing to compare it to. But I love it. The trigger breaks like glass and it comes with a quad rail. I almost bought an ar without checking at fleet farm. The kids were screaming after a long day of shopping. They fell asleep the exit before so I stopped. I figured they would have stag or something so I stopped. I am glad I did. I would of had big regrets if I didn't.
